Despite suggestions that he could be leaving AC Milan, Ruben Amorim held a lengthy meeting with Youssouf Fofana this week.
There could be somewhat of a purge of the Milan squad this summer, with plenty of players available on the mercato. However, selling players has not proven to be an easy task, which is halting the incoming market.

Fofana’s move on hold
Calciomercato.com reports that Amorim wants to understand his players personally, including Fofana, who is widely agreed to be for sale internally. So, a lengthy meeting took place in recent days.
Several things were discussed, such as the Frenchman’s desire to remain at the club and he wants the chance to demonstrate that he can be key in the team.
A sale has not been put on hold or anything like that, though. After all, there is nothing really happening in regards to an exit. Crystal Palace are interested, as are Everton, but there is nothing concrete yet.
If he is to be sold, a €15-20 million bid must arrive. However, remaining at the club cannot be ruled out. In this case, another midfielder would depart and Samuele Ricci is the most likely alternative at this moment.
However, even he is gaining the appreciation of the Portuguese. In short, things are not as simple as would be ideal in the midfield department.

Amorim style, based on winning back possession in the opponents half, demands a sharp tactical mind and predatory speed a point where Højbjerg has an edge over Fofana. I believe Fofana complaint about not playing in his preferred position is not an excuse for his numerous misplaced passes and lack of tactical focus in big matches. This is due to several factors: Fofana being forced into attacking roles that don’t suit his physical and mental attributes; the shift from a defensive, low pressing style to a fierce, high pressing attacking approach under Amorim،and the team weak leadership, with Milan management and Amorim needing to take the lead and command the ball on the field.
But no top team one in their right mind will buy Ricci. And the smaller clubs don’t have the money. But I’d keep Fofana, unless a much better alternative can be brought in.
Ricci should be sold regardless of Fofana’s status but you’re completely right, we’ll struggle greatly to find the buyer.
Atalanta might take him. Or maybe Torino. Either way it will likely be a loan with option to buy.

Very true, this is the mistake people make when comparing leagues, it is much harder to score in Serie A than any other league in Europe, even CR7 only walked away with 1 Golden Boot during his time in Serie A. But I have faith in Camarda, if Pio is anything to go by then Camarda can definitely do it.
