“Crucial to our project” – Amorim puts Maignan and Rabiot controversy to bed

All summer, there have been doubts about Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot. However, Ruben Amorim has protected them and their AC Milan futures.

Throughout the World Cup, there were questions about Milan’s French talents. So, when they were late to return for pre-season, these fears rose again. However, it appears that they were never necessary.

Amorim raises the French defences

Speaking this afternoon, Ruben Amorim was asked about the Maignan and Rabiot situations again and he looked first at the midfielder, as MilanNews relays.

His comments were clear and concise, offering a lot even if he didn’t really stray from the manager’s handbook. Instead, it was just a simple, he’s ‘crucial to our project’. He doubled down on his comments about the break being his idea, and even suggested that a renewal could be looked at.

Any doubts, killed off.

With Maignan, the situation has always been a little different. As the club captain who had recently renewed, it seemed he was also looking out, rather than focusing on what was happening internally.

Again, though, the head coach protected his player, stating that his desire to stay at the club was here and that there were never any doubts otherwise. The suggestions contrary to that were even brought up.

However, he simply stated, via MilanNews, ‘I know there’s been a lot of talk about him on social media. In training, he acts like a leader, and that leads me to believe he’s very happy here.’

Again, doubts killed off. Professional responses to potentially difficult questions. It seems he already knows how to tango with the media, something which you can argue the previous Portuguese coaches couldn’t do.
