CaughtOffside: Amorim seeking reunion with Man Utd star as Milan prepare bid – the situation

Manchester United wide man Amad Diallo is one of Ruben Amorim’s top targets for AC Milan, according to a report.

According to CaughtOffside, United ‘could face an important decision’ regarding Diallo’s future as Milan ‘prepare to test the club’s determination to keep him’. The interest is not a surprise, given how well the Ivorian played under Amorim at Old Trafford.

Brighton and Newcastle are also monitoring developments surrounding Diallo. However, the stance of the Red Devils is clear: they will keep the winger unless he pushes for a move or an offer comes in that they cannot turn down.

Amorim tries for Amad

The report adds: “Sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside that AC Milan have identified Amad Diallo as one of their priority attacking targets.”

The former Atalanta man is seen as a perfect fit for Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system, given he was one of the only players who seemed to thrive in it during the Portuguese’s time in Manchester. He was used both behind the strikers but also as a wing-back.

Amorim’s previous relationship with Amad ‘could give Milan an advantage if negotiations begin’, CaughtOffside add. The Rossoneri management are said to be ‘preparing a financially controlled proposal rather than an enormous bid, which may not be enough to convince United’.

Diallo signed a new agreement in January 2025 keeping him at Old Trafford until June 2030, so United have plenty of leverage. Not only that, but Michael Carrick seems to be a big admirer of the 24-year-old, given he can play pretty much any of the positions behind the striker.

Nonetheless, the source state that ‘a reunion with Amorim and a return to Italy may appeal, especially if Milan can promise a central role’.

  1. IT’S NOT OVER YET AFTER ALL

Referee investigation, Il Giornale: “Now the ball is in the sports prosecutor’s court’s court.”
July 17, 2026, by Francesco Finulli

After the Milan Prosecutor’s Office closed the investigation into Gianluca Rocchi and Inter, the ball is now in the court of the Sports Prosecutor’s Office.

News broke a couple of days ago that the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office had requested the closure of the investigation into referees , which came to light last spring. This dismissed the charges leveled against the main suspects in this investigation: Gianluca Rocchi , former referee designator for Serie A and Serie B, and against Inter, which, as Il Giornale reports , had been placed under investigation a few days earlier. The case revolves around alleged interference in the refereeing decisions made by Rocchi through some of his collaborators.

REFEREES INVESTIGATION, BALL IN THE SPORTS PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE

Now that the criminal investigation has been closed, prosecutor Ascione will pass the documents to Giuseppe Chiné, sports agent, to assess the investigation from a Sports Justice perspective . This morning’s Il Giornale headline read: “Inter pressures referees, now the game changes sides.” It then reads: “After the Milan investigation is closed, the ball is in the sports prosecutor’s court’s court.” The subheading then clarifies: “Two months to evaluate. Any measures will impact the 2026-2027 championship.”

  2. The English media is giving the impression that Manchester wouldn’t give him up so easily! A transfer like this would probably require serious money.
