The week that ends with AC Milan’s first game of the season has begun, and Ruben Amorim has drawn up the schedule.
Milan played their final preseason friendly on Saturday in Poland, beating Manchester United 4-2. The team returned to Italy straight after the game and there was a training session on Sunday, with Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot returning too.

Amorim grants day off
However, Milanello will not host the squad today, who were granted a day off by Amorim following a weekend that involved a fair bit of travel from Milano to Wroclaw and back.
The Portuguese coach has decided to give his players a day to recover despite Sunday evening’s match at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. The Rossoneri also had three days off earlier last week after returning from the Austro-Indonesian tour.
The resumption of training is therefore scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday 18 August at Milanello, where the squad and the staff will properly begin preparing for the match against Ignazio Abate’s Granata.
Maignan and Rabiot will be there, while the conditions of Matteo Gabbia, Rafael Leao, and Christian Pulisic are still being assessed. The first two are expected to return to the group during the week and therefore be available in Turin, if they are called upon.

Hope I will not be made out to be a Cardinale fanboy again, but these are all very encouraging signs. Cardinale present at Milanello, full trust in the manager, two quick amazing purchases in Gila and Ramos (btw the way he played vs. ManU, not so sure 75m is ridiculous in the current market), then the decision to evaluate the players before clearing out the squad, then another mercato summit and again Cardinale listens to Amorim, choosing to opt for the exclusion of certain players from the squad (a tough but necessary decision), and now the cherry on top: the completion of the squad with quality players after careful consideration. I am liking this new Milan. Cardinale is far from forgiven, but compared to previous mercato’s, this feels like heaven. Paired with the massive performance vs. ManU, I actually cannot wait for the start of the season this time around! Forza Milan!

I remember when Iraola came to Bournemouth and it took him 10 games to get the first win and people wanted him sacked. The board had a long term plan thou, didnt panic, and it paid of big.
