Fikayo Tomori was unable to get a deadline day move away from AC Milan, and will now be welcomed back into the fold by Ruben Amorim.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Tomori was the first to learn of the club’s decision to reinstate him. Coach Amorim informed him, and the Englishman was pleased with the club’s decision because hhis preferred option had always been to continue playing for Milan.

The transfer market provided him with a boost, as Gerry Cardinale and his transfer team failed to find another centre-back who was the right profile on the right terms. So, Tomori will stay and (presumably) play, even with his deal expiring at the end of the season.
A fruitless trip to London
Tomori wasn’t at Milanello yesterday because he and his agent were in London, where they followed the negotiations with Fulham, who were looking for a defender. He had expressed openness to the transfer, but he and his entourage clearly understood that the conditions weren’t there.
The decision to reinstate him was made with a mutual agreement between the coach and the management, and is seen as the best possible outcome for Tomori. Fikayo is one of the four remaining players who won the 2021-22 Scudetto (the others being Maignan, Gabbia, and Saelemaekers) and is deeply attached to the club.
He’s demonstrated this over time, both by turning down (twice) a move to Juventus and English clubs (Newcastle, Tottenham, and Aston Villa) and by gritting his teeth at the end of last season when he played despite having physical problems.
Even in the weeks he trained separately (with the other ‘bomb squad’ players), he worked hard, and his fitness isn’t a problem. He’ll be back wearing the No.23, which hadn’t been reassigned. With Matteo Gabbia injured, could he even be in contention to get minutes vs. Juventus on Sunday?
Gianluca Di Marzio confirms the news, writing: “AC Milan have reinstated Fikayo Tomori: the English defender returns to the Milan squad. The Englishman had been included among the players excluded from Ruben Amorim’s project and put on the market, but no solution has been found for his transfer.
“For this reason and due to the failure of a replacement to arrive, Tomori returns to the team’s disposal and is once again included in the AC Milan squad.”
We need somebody that Bleeds for the club. Not necessarily a starter but I believe he can give good 20 minutes when we are trying play out the game.

Amorim doesn’t have a spine and that’s why he brought him back, you really don’t have to look any further and beyond that. Allegri? His style of football is macabre but imagine our last (half)season with Gila and Ramos? And Moreira instead of P.E. for that matter?

Its called management, given the situation we have right now.. we definitely need a CB and Tomori is not a bad option if he stays focused. He is just not good with his feet. The manager is trying is best, lets see how it goes.
Even the managers that fail at their job give their best, sometime it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

Well, if you follow what Amorim said, and what the club said for reinstating Tomori, then there is really no contradiction.
Amorim says “So there are some players who, if they stay, won’t be part of the team”. Some, not all.
And why he was reinstated is also stated clearly by Milan: because they didn’t get the summer cb player they needed. Which makes sense.
By the way, there are other players like Bondo who have not been reinstated into the team.
So, Amorim isn’t contradicting himself. That is clear.
He clearly referred to Tomori, Fofana, Nkunku and Leao when he said that, don’t be ridiculous. Some (SM included) even called them “(The) Bomb Squad”.
Relax dude. We need another CB on the bench. Tomori is a capable CB to have as a backup. And probably the only CB we have with any real pace. It’s a perfectly acceptable situation.

No. Gila- Pavlovic – De Winter are good enough starters. Gabbia and Tomori are good enough backups. WHo do you think they were going to get? Probably not anyone who is even as good as Tomori.
Our problem right now is creativity on the attacking end, which should get better if this coach actually starts playing our best attacking player in Pulisic, but something tells me he’s not bright enough to do that.

Great news. He fits Amorims system with the high defensive line very well. Not as good at passing as Gila, but the got the speed and aggressiveness.
Good backup, and he clearly wants to stay and fight. Hopefully the exclusion made him realise he has to conduct himself better in the dressing room.
If you think Tomori fits the system then you don’t understand the system or you’ve not watched much of Tomori
In a team that presses high up, Tomori will be a good back-up option to Gila and Pavlovic. Last season he was better than Pavlovic.

Oluwafikayo Tomori, he ‘bleeds red and black’. If Musah can stay with Amorim believing he can blend him, why not Tomori. His contract should be renewed with an option for another. Allow him compete with Gila.
I believe any true fan of Milan should be pleased that he is included back in the group. Yes he is imperfect, yes we could potentially buy better and should, but it was wrong treat him so harshly.
He has given a lot to us over his years and is truly committed to the colours. I am certain he will continue to give his all albeit in a more supportive role.
A much better back-up than Terraciano. He will get some minutes as Gila would be managed over the season.
Ugh, Terra 😖 I never want to see him play for Milan agan. Tomori is a bit dangerous to have on the field. His positioning and aggressiveness makes him kind of like a loose cannon. I don’t feel safe with him on the field. But he didn’t deserve to be excluded from the team.

His primary weaknesses were poor attitude and lack of coachability. The exclusion and his failure on the transfer market can be humbling. Let’s hope so. And that being humbled helps fix the above weaknesses.
That man should deploy as wing back right Odogu can replace Gabbia… De winter at central defense is causing error and doesn’t have much one on one tackling , too much foul from him same as Tomori, so Odogu should be given a chance ….

With the high pressing game we play you’d think Tomori would be suited for it. I guess Amorim’s initial assessment he sees it differently. But his recovery pace is excellent. I think he just needs to work on a few areas and those lapses in concentration from time to time. He actually did well in the second half of last season barring that red card game (re lapse in attention) so I dont mind him at the back at all. He isn’t that much inferior to Pav for instance
Diego Leite is a free agent. It’s unbelievable to me that Milan management didn’t have him as their first choice. He’s left footed and on 26yrs old with a lot more experience than Inacio and less injury prone compared to Scalvini.
