Yunus Musah will return to AC Milan this summer and by the sounds of it, he could be considered by Ruben Amorin for the upcoming season, helped by the World Cup factor.
Last summer, Milan agreed to send Musah to Atalanta on a season-long loan with an option to buy. However, despite getting a healthy 29 appearances in for the Bergamo side, he didn’t impress enough for the €20-25m buy-out clause to be worth it.

The American will thus return to Milan this summer. Matteo Moretto reported yesterday that Ruben Amorim has taken note of this already, curious to see if the midfielder can fit into his football. Profile-wise, he already does, but reality is often different.
A new chance for Musah
In addition to the fact that Amorim wants to test Musah during pre-season, effectively giving him a chance to prove himself, there is the World Cup factor to consider. Indeed, to the surprise of many, the 23-year-old wasn’t actually called up by the United States.
This means that he will be at Milanello from the first day of pre-season, i.e. July 12, instead of playing for the United States or going on vacation (depending on when they get knocked out). It might sound silly, but this is something that makes a huge difference.
It will probably also give Musah some energy after a season that didn’t go exactly as planned, knowing that he could potentially stay at Milan and get playing time this upcoming season.

His profile does fit as a right wing back/right midfielder in Amorims 3-4-2-1.
He also did some of his best games in Valencia as a right midfielder.

They could maybe capital gain 20 million from English players and they can more heavier invest in new midfielder and new centre back.
Of course they will be less experienced but balance sheet is balance sheet.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a player failing so much, being benched by virtually every coach recently and not even a bench player for the US, yet people still talk about him like some hidden gem.
And like these last 3 years, he barely had 2 good shots and probably as many good passes.
Absolutely, I think the only redeemable quality of his is that he is somewhat athletic and strong but that doesn’t really qualify him as a football player in my book and definitely not for a club like AC Milan.
Some might argue that we had players like Gattuso and Kessie but they are in a completely league and offered far more than I have seen from the American.

If i recall, the saladman was below average with a few flashes here and there, went to loan at Roma and when he came back, he was basically undroppable for half a season. am i a fool? what are the chances he learned something at Atalanta?

It is hard to sell a player that isn’t good. We will get stock with him not because we want to.
With his energy he could easily become next N’golo Kante. Still, he’s only 23 and with the right coach he could be useful in that kind of role. Amorim plays midfield a la Kante so maybe he can work something out with him.
