The latest three names to be inducted into the new AC Milan Hall of Fame have been officially announced.

As part of the 125th anniversary celebrations, a new Hall of Fame was created and the first inductee became Franco Baresi. The vice president earned the acclaim in his 50th year with the club, and he was joined by three others in December.

Filippo Inzaghi, Andriy Shevchenko and Marco van Basten were also inducted, each selected by fans. It was then announced that the next category would be the greatest midfielders who have worn the Rossoneri shirt.

The official website have confirmed that Carlo Ancelotti, Ruud Gullit and Ricardo Kaká have officially entered the Hall of Fame presented by Emirates as the ‘greatest midfielders in the history of AC Milan’.

While with the Diavolo, Gullit and Kaká won nearly every trophy available as well as the ultimate individual prize: the Ballon d’Or in 1987 and 2007, respectively. Ancelotti – before his success in the dugout – was one of the leaders in Arrigo Sacchi’s great side.

The award ceremonies will begin on Sunday, 26 April, ahead of the meeting between AC Milan and Juventus at San Siro. Before kick-off, Gullit will be the first midfielder to receive the trophy crafted by Tiffany & Co.

In the coming years, goalkeepers and defenders who have left an indelible mark on the history of Milan will also be added.

  1. How do we rate this survey. I have seen more great midfielders in the 1940’s to 1960’s who won everything and lots of goals…..but we don’t know them well in this generation and definitely can’t appreciate them like our contemporary midfielders.

    E.g look at Alberico Evani – 13 seasons, 393 appearances, 91 G/A, 12 trophies (CL, Seria A, coppa….)….now let’s compare him to even KAKA

    1. Kaka 307 games, 104 goals, 81 assists.
      Whats there to compare?
Evani played in the 80’s not in the 40’s and 60’s.
Who are these great midfielders that you have “seen” in the 40’s and 60’s?

    2. 1. Evani – 13 seasons, 393 appearances, 91 G/A, 12 trophies (CL, Seria A, coppa….) (NO HALL OF FAME)

      2. Massimo Ambrosini – 17 seasons 489 appearances, 76 G/A, 12 trophies (2CL, 4 serieA……) (NO HALL OF FAME)

      3. Ruud Gullit – 7 seasons 171 appearances, 96 G/A 9 trophies (2CL, 3 Serie À…..) (HALL OF FAME)

      Roberto Donadoni – 12 seasons 390 appearances, 82 G/A, 18 trophies (3CL, 6 Serie À……) (NO HALL OF FAME)

      Dimitrio Albertine – 14 season 406 appearances, 74 G/A, 14 trophies (2CL, 5 serie À…..) (NO HALL OF FAME)

      1. First of all you continue to list players that played in the last 40+ years even though you spoke about great midfielders that you’ve seen play in the 40’s and 60’s.
2nd, Milan started doing hall of Fame just recently, the last few years. They can’t put them all at the same time. And yeah, Kaka deserved to be there ahead of the players you listed. Guilt should definitely go in next season. The others who were nowhere near the level of Ballon Dor winners will have to wait their turn.

        1. Correction, Gulit is going in this time around along with Kaka, as he should.
2 Ballon Dor winners and a coach that led Milan to 2 UCL titles but we got someone bringing up Evani and Ambrosini. Good players but not great players like Kaka and Gulit

  2. Stupid way they’re going about inducting players. Three at a time and by category? Maldini should have been right behind Baresi, as the best defender of all time. Maybe even before Baresi. Where is Pirlo? What about Rivera? My bet is Rivera never makes it in because he’s been critical of ownership. No Nordahl? Another Redbird farce.
