Ancelotti urges Pioli to give ‘clear and simple’ instructions to Milan players for Napoli tie

By Isak Möller -

Carlo Ancelotti has spoken to the media about the upcoming clashes between AC Milan and Napoli in the Champions League quarter-final. The former Rossoneri and Partenopei manager believes it will be two balanced games.

Milan and Napoli both dream of making it through to the semi-finals and potentially final, given that one of Benfica and Inter await in the semis. First, however, they will have to focus on the quarter-final.

Speaking to Radio Anch’io Sport, as cited by SempreMilan.it, the former Milan and Napoli manager Ancelotti shared his thoughts on the clash. He also clarified the text message he sent to Paolo Maldini after the draw.

Who will win?

“In this type of match, the players will feel the pressure, they will be very motivated, so there is no need to make motivational speeches.”

On tactics…

“The strategy of the match will be crucial, trying to give clear and simple instructions to the players, to make them feel involved and present. It’s also a way to ease the pressure that these matches inevitably put on you.”

The phone call to Maldini…

“It was above all a wish for Milan, who I am fond of. Actually Milan-Napoli will be a very balanced and very uncertain match. Would it be nice to meet in Istanbul? For Real yes, I think also for Milan, but everyone wants to get to Istanbul,” he concluded.

The first leg is scheduled for Wednesday and will be played at San Siro, while the return is scheduled for Tuesday next week. As said, it should be a tight affair and it will be very interesting to see how both games will develop.
