CorSera: Another clue arrives regarding Milan’s plan to build alone at La Maura

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have made it clear that they want to break away from Inter and build their own new stadium, and a clue has arrived regarding a potential acceleration.

The Milanese edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) reports this morning that the Milan leadership have asked the City Council for a three-month extension to deliver the papers that certify the ownership of the team, documents that they requested from Milan and Inter in order to be able to go ahead with the original project to build the stadium together next to San Siro.

The Rossoneri ownership are adamant that foreign bureaucracy that is slowing everything down, but the feeling is that there is a desire to understand if the La Maura hypothesis is really feasible and that is what is behind the delay.

Milan are increasingly convinced by the idea of abandoning the project with Inter and going it alone, so they hope to shortly present the master plan to Mayor Beppe Sala for the new stadium that would be built in the La Maura racecourse area.

In addition to the new stadium, the club’s headquarters Casa Milan – currently situated in Portello – could also move to La Maura. We will know more in the coming days, but this delay by the Diavolo is yet another indication that the club want to build a stadium on their own.
