Arnautovic believes ‘strengthened’ Milan are Inter’s ‘first rival’

New Inter striker Marko Arnautovic believes that AC Milan are their biggest rivals for the Scudetto this season, as well as the fiercest foes in general.

Milan were actually heavily linked with a move for the Austrian forward earlier in the summer as he was believed to be a transfer target put forward by Paolo Maldini before he was sacked as the technical director.

In the end, the former West Ham man decided to join the other team in the city on an initial loan deal, and he got an assist on his debut for the Nerazzurri in their 2-0 victory over Monza in matchday one.

Arnautovic did an interview with SportMediaset in which he spoke about how his move to Inter came about, but he had some interesting things to say about Milan too who he considers their main rivals for the second star. His comments were relayed by Radio Rossonera.

Where do you want to take this Inter?

“When you’re at Inter you have to win, it’s important to fight for the second star: I want to help on and off the pitch.”

Is your dream trying to get another treble, this time as a protagonist?

“First of all the championship, we will fight for the second star. The treble… it’s not easy. Even thirteen years ago nobody believed it at the beginning of the season, you never know.

“But it’s not easy, we have to do a lot, I can’t say at the beginning of the season where we’ll end up. It would be a dream for all of us players and for the club.”

Is there a team that you consider the first rival for the Scudetto?

“The first rival is always Milan, in Milan there is one of the biggest derbies in the world. In this mercato they have strengthened the team but we are not afraid of anyone.”

    1. Yeah i agree and personally i wouldnt have minded either but seeing scamacca join atalanta for 25 mil is the one that hurts the most as he has many years ahead of him but arnautovic is pretty dominant player and could have worked well for us for the short term.

      1. Looking at what Inter did, they actually replaced like for like. Now we can deliberate on quality but they did some smart, inexpensive signings. I can also see Inzaghi getting the most out of them too.

        1. Not that im especially fond of inter to say the least but they often do smart deals also aquirring a bunch of players over the years that i would have liked to see ac milan do instead but arnautovic has something mean about him and if utilized in the right way i have no doubt he can offer a great contribution to inter. Overall i agree they have done some low cost deals this summer that could prove shrewd, hopefully not against us though.

    2. I disagree.
He does not have the class neither as a player or as a person to ever wear the Milan shirt, Inter can have him. We will soon get out man.

      Just a bit mor patience

      1. I could see why you would say that if going by what they could have been versus how their EPL stints went. But I think Scamacca above all still has it.

  1. Dear Oliver, Please write about somethiing that is worthy of AC Milan, not someone like Arnautovic please. Why do we even pay attention to him?
