AC Milan must evaluate the best course of action for Lorenzo Torriani’s future, especially given he is attracting interest from abroad.

A lot of the headlines at the moment surrounding Milan are about the captain and starting goalkeeper Mike Maignan and whether he will renew his contract. There are more optimistic reports circulating about the possibility of him extending his deal beyond the end of the season.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport report, Milan must also consider the best path for Torriani. The 20-year-old goalkeeper is playing for Milan Futuro and is currently not set for a loan (perhaps in Serie B) in January.

It’s likely he’ll stay with the Rossoneri and discuss with the club in the summer the best solution for a future together. Arsenal are very interested, after Torriani played a great friendly against the Gunners this summer, saving three penalties.

However, for Milan, the Gunners are not a concrete threat at the moment. Given his age and his obvious potential, there’s plenty of time to think and plan the right course of action.

As a reminder, last summer – before acquiring Dominik Greif from Real Mallorca for €4m – Lyon knocked on Milan’s door for Torriani at the specific request of Paulo Fonseca. However, their attempts were rebuffed.

  1. Can anyone explain to me why aren’t we doing Brahim Diaz types of deals? Sell for 5M and buy back for 10M in case the player grows and develops. Are other teams smarter or we don’t even try it?

    1. We basically already did it with Camarda as he is on loan at Lecce with an option to buy for 3 mil and we have retained a buyback option set at 4 mil.

      1. Thanks Martin. Do we have more examples? Is there a database that I could search? I find it as a good way to maximize revenue streams and allow players to grow and develop.

        1. No Problem. Not that I know of but we have also allowed some players to leave either at low costs or for free but keeping 50% resale so we either capitalize on future sales or has an easier way bringing them back. Ideally though we should operate a lot more as Real Madrid does.
