Leon Goretzka was a long-term interest for AC Milan, and it seems that over the next few months, they will continue to pursue the midfielder. However, their mission is more difficult.
Given the situation with Goretzka, it is nothing new that bringing him to San Siro in the summer will be a challenge. After all, he is an experienced midfielder with a versatile skillset, who, above all, is used to playing in a team of pedigree.

Similar to Adrien Rabiot, Goretzka is no stranger to success and will demand it wherever he goes, once his contract with Bayern Munich expires.
Goretzka to the Gunners?
It seemed like he was heading to Atletico Madrid last month, but the deal did not progress as it once seemed it would. However, they were not the only club to make an approach, as Christian Falk reports on Bayern Insider.
“It is TRUE: Arsenal made an offer for Leon Goretzka shortly before the transfer deadline. This was a very interesting option for the German, but at this point, he’d already decided he wouldn’t move in the winter.
“When Atletico Madrid knocked at his door, he made an official statement on his Instagram account – as did Bayern Munich. It’s not the way of Goretzka to break his word at the last minute – even for Arsenal!
“I think he has a good idea for the Premier League. He believes his playing style suits the English top-flight. There’s still, also, the interest from Atletico Madrid, so plenty of options for the future. Italy is also an opportunity, with interest from Juventus, Milan, Napoli.
“Arsenal, of course, would have been interesting for the midfielder, but the offer came too late on deadline day, which didn’t leave anyone enough time to react. What a pity for Arsenal and Goretzka!
In the summer, then, there may be another heavyweight vying for Goretzka’s signature, and Arsenal will definitely have more contract leeway than the Diavolo would. Nevertheless, the management do not seem to have been deterred.
Anyone more familiar with Bayern and Bundesliga football, what do you think of him? I obviously watched some Goretzka matches on UCL, and also with the German national team, and I feel that he’s a good player, but I’m not that familiar with him.

I only know he underwent a muscle growth sprout over a summer. After that summer break his teammates did not recognize him anymore because of his size. Anyways, I think he is about 4 years too late for a move to a more competitive league. Bundesliga is great but I am not sure about its competitiveness, so his ability to survive in a more demanding environment (physical EPL or tactical Serie A) deserves some doubt.
This is unfair criticism. He was cut from the team but has earned his spot back. He’s a really good player and a valuable presence in the locker room. He’s also a winner, which is exactly what this team needs. Just look at the impact Modric and Rabiot have made on our team. Players like this are a clear choice, especially for a club like Milan that has a long history of winners.
Too good and experienced (and expensive) of a player to end up at Milan unfortunately.
