Repubblica: Milan retain interest in Roma forward but Arsenal open talks over €30-40m deal

The number of teams monitoring Nicolo Zaniolo’s situation continues to grow and AC Milan are among them, according to a report.

La Repubblica (via Calciomercato.com) report that Zaniolo is experiencing another dark moment at Roma where his stay could end in June, or maybe even earlier. Arsenal have emerged as a contender after missing out on Mudryk, who ended up at Chelsea, and now find themselves with an avalanche of money to spend to complete the attacking department.

Mikel Arteta has liked Zaniolo for some time, and talks have already opened over a deal that would be worth €30-40m. The feeling is that Roma could well sell, given that the 23-year-old’s contract expires in 2024 and the chances of being able to renew it are slim.

Official offers have not yet arrived but expressions of interest have, and that extends to Newcastle who are third in the Premier League and are eager to make a signing to reinforce their Champions League dream.

For both Arsenal and Newcastle there would be a need to convince Zaniolo, who until a few months ago rejected foreign offers as his goal is to stay in Italy.

Milan and Juventus are mentioned as being keen on the Italy international, but their plan is to wait until June to evaluate a possible negotiation. If Zaniolo were to leave in January, Roma would have the necessary liquidity to sign Frattesi from Sassuolo and perhaps a central defender and a right-back.

  1. Good, he a injury prone bottler and the sooner he is off the market the better. We need quality, not another injured dumpster fire.

  2. Serie A clubs thru Italian newspapers invent stories that EPL clubs are interested in their players
Who actually believes that Arsenal or Newcastle are interested in Roma’s version of Ante Rebic.
Zaniolo last season scored 2 goals in serie A.
This season halfway through has scored only 1 goal.
This man plays as a forward.
Why would Arsenal or Newcastle wanna sign a forward who averages more red cards than goals?
These are top 3 clubs in the standings in EPL

    1. The fact is neither are interested. This is a case of Arsenal are seeking a forward and newcastle are building a squad and this player is available so his agent leaks false interest to drum up real interest.

  3. why is no one looking for Moussa Diaby of Leverkusen, he’s like right side version of Leao, same age, his right foot cross is good & left foot shooter just check his stat,
i think we can get him below 25m from Leverkusen (12th in Bundes) also he want to play in CL club
