‘Arsenal could sell’ – Romano gives update on Milan’s pursuit of defender

Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior could leave during the summer transfer window, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed, and he gave an update on AC Milan’s reported interest.

Kiwior was heavily linked with a move to Milan in the months before he departed Spezia in January 2023 to move to Arsenal. Since joining the Gunners he has found starts difficult to come by under Mikel Arteta, but has shown his versatility as a left-back and centre-back.

Milan are in the market for a new defender and it was widely reported that they had tried to sign Kiwior in the 2024 winter transfer window. Stories have once again emerged suggesting that they will go back in for him this summer.

Speaking to CaughtOffside in the latest edition of his Daily Briefing column, Romano provided some insight into Kiwior’s situation as the Rossoneri once again lurk in the background.

“Jakub Kiwior to AC Milan stories are also back again. The Polish defender has always been appreciated by AC Milan, as he was on their list also in January, but at the moment Milan have not approached Arsenal yet,” Romano said.

“They have different priorities including a new right-back and a new striker. For the centre-back, we will see later in the window. Arsenal could sell Kiwior this summer, but only for an important proposal.”

There is quite a Polish theme to the news this morning, given that Aston Villa’s Matty Cash has been linked by Gianluca Di Marzio while a source in his homeland has mentioned Marcin Bulka as a potential Mike Maignan replacement.
