Kosovare Asllani recently gave an interview to Swedish media outlet, Fotbollskanalen, about her recent move to AC Milan.
There, the Swedish international discussed her reasons for choosing the team, the reception she’s received, and fellow Swede, Zlatan Ibrahimović. Here’s what she had to say to the outlet…
On how she was welcomed at the team…
“It has been a very positive welcome. It has been very professional and you can feel that Milan is a big club with a big fanbase. Historically, it’s one of the biggest clubs and this has become clear.”
On her reasons for choosing Milan…
“I like to create history. It was the same at PSG, City and Real Madrid and now I’m arriving at a club with many international players and national team players. I’m arriving at a club that wants to take the final steps, with the ambition of qualifying for the Champions League and fighting for titles. It feels like the Italian league is on the up, especially now that it’s considered professional.”
On Serie A Femminile transitioning to a professional league…
“If the professional status was decisive? It has certainly been significant. It’s very important for Italian football and the club to be able to give the players better conditions.”
On receiving many offers before choosing Milan…
“I had offers from the US, England, France and big leagues as well as clubs. I do what feels best for me and not what is expected from me. I feel like I have a lot of experience I can contribute with in the Italian league.
“Personally, I’ve also been very curious about the way they play here. Then, of course, it’s important that it’s a big club, especially the men’s team. My urge to play in the Italian league was decisive. It means a lot to me to join such a big club. I love to experience new cultures and different countries’ ways of playing football.”
On Zlatan…
“Ibrahimovic? He’s the biggest. He’s the biggest in Swedish football and sometimes I think people have a short memory when it comes to Zlatan and what he’s done for Swedish football. And what he’s done for Milan is also incredible. He will probably remain the biggest.”
