MN: Aston Villa contact Milan about Saelemaekers – what is expected from the talks

It has seemed more likely than not that AC Milan would retain Alexis Saelemaekers this season. However, there could be a shift.

Like Paulo Fonseca last summer, Massimiliano Allegri started the summer wanting to keep Saelemaekers thanks to the possibilities that he provided. A versatile winger, the Belgian is capable of playing anywhere on the right-hand side.

So, with him also looking sharp in pre-season, Allegri’s wishes were only further cemented. However, once again, there is now interest forming in the winger.

Premier League interest

Roma’s pursuit of Saelemaekers has gone really quiet, understandably so given his recent comments about wanting to win with Milan. Though it has not stopped other parties from taking an interest.

As MilanNews write, Aston Villa have an interest in the winger, and have come forward to contact the Rossoneri about his situation. It is only in the early stages, but there is already a belief that an ‘official offer’ could be submitted in the next few days.

Neither party is unhappy with the situation as it currently is, so it is difficult to see how things could play out in the Villains’ favour. There is nothing suggested about the idea from Villa just yet, so it may be a permanent offer or even a loan. It remains to be seen, especially with recent talks of a renewal.

  1. Naturally after his Roma form with 7 goals and 7 assists (correct me if I’m wrong) and his preseason form, kind of expected. But I don’t think we will sell him. He stated clearly he wants to stay here.

    1. €35m with premier league tax €42m payable in 1 payment, boost the ego of Salesmeekers, he thrives when his confidence is high

  2. Please don’t. Saelemaekers > Chuk + Okafor. His work rate is superb and implements better in Allegris system.

  3. You need guys that work and run and close people down on the team. In the scudetto year that was pretty much all he did and he did it well.

Now he’s also more polished offensively and can score and create as well. He’s a good piece to have.

Everyone has their price but no need to unload him unless the valuation is met. Rather sell Chuk.

  4. no way for less than 50m, he’s our last Grinta, he’s not a Star but he can play everywhere, no complains, standing brave even in everybody againts him situation, remind me of Ambro mentality

  5. What we paid for Jashari + 3m.
We’d be crazy not to deal for 3x market value. That said, he’s a valuable piece of the puzzle for Milan.
