Aston Villa could save Milan €7m as Reina remarks: “I will not hang up my gloves”

By Oliver Fisher -

Aston Villa could make their loan deal for AC Milan goalkeeper Pepe Reina a permanent one now they have secured their Premier League status for another year, a report claims.

Reina joined the Villains back in January on a deal until the end of the season, and the Birmingham club ensured they will remain in the top flight after a 1-1 draw against West Ham on Sunday.

According to Nicolo Schira on Twitter, Villa could now sign Reina permanently in a move that would save Milan about €7million in gross salary, as the Spaniard has a year to run on his contract with the Rossoneri.

As per MilanNews, Reina spoke to the media after the draw against West Ham to secure Premier League survival, and seemed to suggest that he does not see his future with Villa beyond the summer.

“I will not hang up my gloves. I feel I still have two years at high levels,” he said.

“I will return to Milan because I have another year of contract. But in football one day you can say something, in the following week you can be somewhere else.”
