Moretto: Aston Villa making progress on Ruggeri deal as Milan watch Estupinan exit fade

Pervis Estupinan’s future had been written before the start of the summer mercato, but it has not been fulfilled yet, with him still at AC Milan.

As last season headed towards an end, it seemed increasingly likely that they would part ways with Estupinan this summer. After a few months, even, it seemed that they were already regretting their purchase.

Davide Bartesaghi and Alexis Saelemaekers are preferred on the left by Ruben Amorim, so it seems tough to find a spot for the left-back. Yet, the Portuguese wanted to assess him before allowing a sale.

Estupinan’s exit blocked…

Speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel earlier today, Matteo Moretto offered an update on Estupinan’s future and it is not what Milan wanted to hear, with a decision not confirmed just yet, as MilanNews relays.

“The Ruggeri news is also affecting AC Milan fans, because in the last few hours, Aston Villa have been pushing to reach an agreement with Atlético Madrid regarding Matteo Ruggeri. Ruggeri is on his way out of Atlético Madrid; I’ve been saying this for months.

“Some Italian teams have come forward without the conviction needed to close a deal, and be careful, because Aston Villa are close to reaching an agreement with Atlético Madrid for Ruggeri. Then we need to understand Ruggeri’s intentions.

“This type of transfer could permanently block Estupinan’s move to Aston Villa, because, as we know, Amorim blocked the Ecuadorian’s departure, with the Villas getting fed up and turning to Ruggeri.”

Considering the Ecuadorian could still leave the club this summer, the Diavolo may have lost their biggest opportunity at a sale.

  1. Estupinan, RLC, Gimenez, Tomori (even tho Liverpool’s supposedly interested and so suddenly he’s world class) – so much dead weight to get rid of so we can start our mercato again and Amorim’s still “evaluating”….

    1. Ultimately if he can get more out of the players we have than any manager before, he’s a genius.

If he fails to get anything out of them and it’s too late to sell? Then he’s an a**hole.

I wonder if he’s watched many of our players perform in the seasons past to understand who’s worth the stay and who isn’t.

  2. August 4th – Amorim blocking mercato due to evaluation of players at disposal.

September 1st – Amorim disappointed at incomplete team stating “a tough season ahead of us”

    1. I miss Tare, how he magically offloaded players is still a mystery to me, though some returned but he did a successful job given how horrible we had been in offloading players and now it’s a deja vu of management inability to offload deadweight.

        1. U think selling is a one way street?? Even the buyer have to agree to the terms of sale to even make a transfer happen. Stop dreaming that we can offload as easy as u think

        2. is royal coming back?
or any club proposing 3m+ loan to buy for useless musah/ beni?
Tare maybe not good enough bought players but he’s done well at selling or at least got decent $ loan out useless players

  3. Estupinan is the worst defender I’ve ever saw playing. Bro is slow af I cannot believe someone would pay us 20 million for him and Amorim just blocks the deal.

  4. Amorim is an idiot. Every United fan know this. He blocks the sell of Estupinan ? 😯😯
    What an idiot…
What can you see in this useless untalented “player” ? Aston Villa gas give us a golden opportunity to sell this dead wood and Amorim block this ? Okkkkk….

  5. Amatures always commenting.. watch what happens when the league starts. talking now isnt going to help nada. The team will be fine and on point. I trust the coach.

  6. estu got benched by newbee Barte & it’s not bcs Barte play like young Maldini, Barte is just fine as LB/LWB & estu much worse than that
