Atalanta CEO reveals plan to speak with Milan about De Ketelaere deal

By Oliver Fisher -

Atalanta’s CEO Luca Percassi has revealed that he is planning to speak with AC Milan about the future of Charles De Ketelaere after his season on loan there.

The Belgian forward was sent on loan to Atalanta by Milan after a difficult first season in Italy, but that move is expected to be made permanent given he has had such a great campaign with La Dea, with 14 goals and 11 assists to his name across all competitions in 50 games.

De Ketelaere also lifted some silverware given that Atalanta won the Europa League late last month after producing a stunning display to beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in Dublin, with Ademola Lookman getting all three goals.

Fabrizio Romano spoke about the situation related to De Ketelaere recently and confirmed that Atalanta will use their €23m buy option, while there are €4m in add-ons too.

Percatti spoke at the ‘La notte della C’ event in Milano last night and he was asked about what the future holds for De Ketelaere, with his comments relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“We finished our season yesterday, in the next few days we will meet with Milan. We will have the opportunity to talk and pick up the story from where we started with them in the relationship, knowing what Atalanta did in these months and what Charles has done very well,” he said.

On our Substack, we have explained what CDK’s move means financially with regards to the accounts and the 2024 summer mercato budget.

  1. No discussions, pay or give him back!
Atalanta are one of those teams that infuriate me the most, generating 80M from 1 season wonders and then asking discount to everyone else…

    1. I cant imagine that they will get any discounts as his value is more than what they already will have to pay but yeah they are not really that great to do deals with so they better pay what is agreed upon or leave. If they really want to save some cash we can do a direct swap with scamacca.

        1. Even if transfermarkt isn’t an excat science its at least an indication and pretty sure Atalanta will sell him a for a lot more cash. Maybe in a deal for another player or maybe they paying a bit less and us getting a higher resale % might be on the table but that would be more in our favor than theirs so doubt that will happen. We will see but i think they will pay what agreed upon because its not a bad deal they got there for CDK.

      1. CDK value already rising because win UEL. Atalanta will be stupid if not activate buy option. It is also capital gain for atalanta if they can sell CDK to EPL club more than 50m euro

        1. I absolutely agree it wouldn’t meake much sense if they didn’t activate that deal and i 50 mil is probably lower than what they will sell him for if they keep him a bit more.

    2. Umm, we also asked for discount for Tomori.. No harm done in trying to build a relationship for future deals..

      1. lol we ask discounts on everyone. I think it’s about the amount of the discount. We do it too. It’s one thing to have a player worth 30 and say, we’ll pay 25 and end up paying 27. This is acceptable. clubs sometimes say he’s worth 30, i’ll give you 12. That, is what makes me upset. Like i said, we do it too but that’s not negotiating, that’s just wasting time for the media.

    1. It doesn’t matter because Atalanta has the power as they has a buyout clause and neither AC Milan or CDK can object to it as the contracts are already signed so unless they refuse to pay the already agreed upon deal he will be theirs.

  2. It’s the 10% resale clause that we have on him that excites me the most. So if they sell him on for 50-60mil to PL, thats another 5-6mil. So best case scenario, 32-33mil and we pretty much made our money back.
