Daniel Maldini has, today, joined Atalanta on a permanent move from Monza, and AC Milan will pocket half of the transfer fee due to a clause.

Atalanta have had a keen interest in Maldini’s progression with Monza since joining the club permanently six months ago, and in December, there were suggestions that the club could look to make a move in the January window.

In the past few days, the likelihood of that deal has increased substantially, and now, the move has been made official by La Dea this afternoon.

It has been heavily reported that the Rossoneri would pocket 50% of any move for the youngster, so they will be happy to be given a cash injection from the move. However, if Maldini follows a similar path to Charles De Ketelaere in Bergamo, a feeling of regret could rise quite quickly. Especially with the club looking for another Trequartista in the mercato.

However, the Rossoneri did not act on any reported interest they held, so it may sit as a feeling of what if.

Considering how the club lost out on a fortune from the Champions League, the additional funds will be welcomed with open arms, especially considering the club are looking to be active themselves, even after the addition of Santiago Gimenez.

  1. Will come back and bite Milan.
CDK got plenty of chances. Maldini did not. Plus, with a one track mind manager like Pioli and a crap American ownership, it stands to reason why these young players now flourish.

  2. This is how thing should be.

Sell and earn from players who can’t compete on stronger level.

Flop loaned out sell for small fee to have space and availability for new arrivals

  3. Oh my God. What happened to my Milan. He is talented and son of Milan Legend. Crazy Capitalist American should leave.

  4. Even without the Maldini name, there’s no way to see this as anything other than a failure IMO, a homegrown Italian player we chose to let go for free signing for a team well ahead of us in the league and Europe

  5. So less and less Italian in Milan huh?
Now it’s just Gabbia, Camarda, Terraciano, Sportiello, and Florenzi on his way out.

    1. It’s good to homegrown talent but right now, what we are producing aren’t up to standard. Caseide to torino is a prime example. Tonali barely hanging on.
