Atalanta’s transfer history shows investment in De Ketelaere is significant

By Isak Möller -

Charles De Ketelaere appears to be just one step away from Atalanta, who have reached an agreement with Milan for an initial loan. While some Rossoneri fans would have wanted higher figures, everything is relative.

The latest reports suggest that the clubs have reached an agreement at €3m for the season-long loan and €23m for the buy-out option. Atalanta will also cover the entire salary of De Ketelaere during the loan, which is €2.2m net.

Some Milan fans would have wanted the figures to be slightly higher. Especially the loan fee, as the Rossoneri will pay €7m in amortisation for the player this season. Taking a look at Atalanta’s transfer history, though, it’s a significant investment for them.

Should they decide to redeem De Ketelaere, he would be the joint-second most expensive signing in their history after El Bilal Toure (€29m). Duvan Zapata is missing from the photo below but his transfer also came in at €26m.

In this sense, Atalanta are making a significant investment, or at least if they decide to activate the clause. Milan would also make a small capital gain next summer in that case.

  1. Just get this done already. He doesn’t have what it takes to be on milan. If he blows up at Atalanta then so be it. But I know his character and play doesn’t suit us so he’ll always be like this for us

      1. He’s a vicious and aggressive killer. Doesn’t have any human emotions in his body. That’s what transmits to the fans via telly screen and YouTube-reels. I bet he eats babies for breakfast.

      2. Character on the pitch, you know. You can read a a person’s body language on the pitch. They show emotion instead of maybe where you watch them on fifa 23 or something…

        1. funny. i’ve seen a boy who is trying real hard and has not been given a break by the cosmos..
Maybe i should get 4k to see better, idk

    1. Exactly. Players that need to take a step down in difficulty to show something and then make another big move somewhere else. The great Paqueta has 4 goals and 3 assists in the PL. Maybe next he will go to Portugal for at a loss for West Ham where he will score 12 goals and then make another big money move to Spain, where he will score 5 goals, etc. Paqueta belongs at a mid-table club in a big league or a big club in a small league. That’s his level.
