A new right-back could arrive at AC Milan shortly, with an update arriving about the situation of Zachary Athekame.

With the midfield complete, the work turns to other areas. Milan need a new striker and another right-back. Both have seen issues so far, but they should be overcome as the window reaches its climax. Nevertheless, the aim is to get deals done sooner.

According to reports, a move for Athekame is in the ‘final stages’ with an €8 million bid tabled by the Rossoneri. However, it seems that it may not be enough. Gianluca Di Marzio has reported this morning that further discussions are planned today.

There are no intentions of spending more than €10m on the defender, but the current offer is seemingly not enough to satisfy Young Boys. Considering Fabrizio Romano suggested a middle ground was going to be found, it is understandable why this is not amusing the Diavolo.

However, like in the Ardon Jashari saga, the Swiss club have raised the price, due to other interested parties getting involved. So, the right-back plans to start requesting a move, as Matteo Moretto reported for Romano on YouTube, which MilanNews relayed.

“Athekame has officially asked to be transferred to Milan, and he has asked Young Boys to be released. The full-back wants to go to Milan. We will see what happens in the next few hours, but sources within the negotiation tell us that today, Friday, 8 August, the OK from the Swiss club should arrive.”

  1. Well, they hold the contract/registration, so it’s up to them what they ask for. Let’s not start vilifying them for asking money or holding out. If he’s the right player, hopefully we find an agreement.

  2. Savona, Miretti and Valhovic trio from Juve

Ricci, Torriani, Barte, Jimenez, Terracianno not enough for next year

  3. Napoli buy 22y Marinez cheaper then we Estupinan 27y. Martinez is better player.
We again dont buy great left and right back and CD so this year again we not will be good. I understand our owners stupid 1 or 2 years but 3rd is too much.
Sad is we not going anything better this year

    1. Do you mean Juanlu or Miguel Gutierrez? Players so good you don’t know their names. Let’s see how things turn out first.

  4. The game changes ( and let me qualify -within reason of course) the minute a player puts in a transfer request. If he doesn’t want to leave it is up to the buying club to entice the selling club. Hope this doesn’t get dragged out unnecessarily. The sooner this gets the done the quicker focus can shift to the striker department which in my opinion is not going in the right direction…

    1. Let me burst your bubbles, we ain’t signing any notable striker, unless somehow Gimenez gets sold. What we’d get at best is a backup or Okafor stays.

      1. Even if we remain like that in CF position, it wouldn’t be a bad thing by a stretch.

We spent considerably (in relation to our recent transfer cap) to sign Gimenez who was one of the hottest prospects in Europe, that was a testament signing, and I do think with the quality of the team rising, he will score more goals.

I’m open to us having another notable striker, but even if it doesn’t happen, Gimenez is notable enough under the right conditions. Having another notable striker could be luxury which wouldn’t burst my bubble without.

The mercato is already a pass mark, a right back is our compulsory target right now, even though Sealsmeakers and Jimenez can hold that position considering we only play in Italy this season.

  5. I like the way John thinks…. A striker will be an icing on the cake, but we dont really need one … We desperately need a RB
