Athletic: Newcastle want a right-sided CB – Milan man among those ‘tracked’

In recent weeks, Newcastle United have been looking to AC Milan again for additions to their squad, and a report has suggested they have ‘tracked’ a player in their quest to find another central defender.

One of Milan’s biggest struggles last season was their lack of central defenders, and this is an issue they are already looking to correct in the current mercato, with at least one addition being planned, but that could change due to an ongoing experiment.

Nevertheless, one addition may become two if the Rossoneri are to lose a player, which would leave the squad looking quite weak in the area, and force the management to find additional coverage in the mercato.

As per The Athletic, this could be the case as Newcastle United have ‘tracked’ Malick Thiaw. The 22-year-old central defender fits the profile and age that the Magpies are likely looking to sign, and after their attempts for Fikayo Tomori ended quickly, they could retry with a different target.

There have been questions about the relationship between the two clubs, especially after the Sandro Tonali saga, but the Diavolo will have a price in mind, and if Newcastle want the player, they must meet it.
