Atletico Madrid director confirms Milan want defender and ‘satisfy conditions’

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan appear to remain in the running to sign Caglar Soyuncu as Atletico Madrid’s sporting director has confirmed that the club are willing to satisfy their conditions.

The management want to give Pioli another central defender after Matteo Gabbia’s early return and they are looking to England after their attempts to sign Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno did not get very far.

It was reported by Sky two days ago that an attempt was also made for Soyuncu, who was also sought by Roma, but they claimed he has chosen to go to join up with Rade Krunic, Leonardo Bonucci and Edin Dzeko’s Fenerbahce.

According to Doruk Tecimer who works for TRT Spor, Atletico Madrid’s sporting director Andrea Berta spoke regarding Soyuncu and not only denied that a move to Fenerbahce is close but also mentioned Milan.

“Milan and Porto meet the conditions we want for Caglar Soyuncu. We can reach an agreement with them. Fenerbahçe is not an option for us in the current conditions,” he said (via The Milan Zone).

Soyuncu left Leicester City last summer after half a decade there and joined Atletico Madrid on a four-year deal, but he has so far made just eight appearances across all competitions for his new club.

  1. No thank you, he’s a crazy person masquerading as a footballer. Took him 4 minutes to get sent of in his debut for athletico, and wasn’t much better at Leicester.

  2. Clearly chasing the most cheap deals they can find and also clearly don’t know what they doing. So yh guys be glad we are playing eu competitions each year with these targets and possible buys we aren’t getting any trophies

  3. Now they just want to add a CB regardless an injury prone, a good player or a flop, just any player whose position is CB. Does it really worth it Moncada and Pioli ? I regret being glad the Buongiorno persuade stopped. Now they’ll probably get a player who’s not needed by his club and not worth our time and space

    1. There’s certain Orange named Virgil van Dijk though. Or Mathijs de Ligt. Or Jaap Stam. Or Edwin Van Der Sar. Frankie de Jong, Or even certain ordinary trio of Van Basten, Rijkaard, and Ruud Gullit…

Basically you have 0 football knowledge to reject any ‘Oranje’.

  4. What happened to chasing a new manager and sacking Pioli?
Francesco Farioli is a great option but Pioli beat Udine last week and Milan will finish second to Juve and Inter again!
Big name player will not come with this coach at Milan!
