‘Attacking’, ‘Dominating’ – Fonseca introduces himself at Lyon with familiar words

Paulo Fonseca made many promises during his time at AC Milan and failed to deliver on them as a whole. Now, the new Lyon coach has repeated himself at his new club.

When the Portuguese coach arrived at Milan, there were a lot of questions about the appointment, but his initial press conferences seemed to bring some positive optimism to things. However, six months later, the initial doubters were proved right.

Fonseca’s football lacked the core characteristics that he had promised on arrival, and as a result, the Rossoneri were forced into making a decision mid-way through the season.

Now, the coach has moved back to France, where he was previously so successful, and in his opening press conference, he has made similar promises to the Lyon fans, as Milan News relays.

“When we are at a club like Lyon, we have to be ambitious. It is a good team with good players. I believe a lot in these players and I am very motivated. It was an easy choice because I know the history of Lyon, I know the team.

“I am very motivated to coach these players and this team. Lyon is a great club with excellent facilities. Also, I had a very interesting conversation with John Textor. He is very ambitious and so am I. It is easy to be motivated when John Textor, who represents Lyon, talks to you and explains what he wants for the future of the team.”

On the game…

“I think that with these players we can play offensive football because we have quality. It is true that we will need time, but I am very confident. For us, winning is the main objective, but also playing well and practising offensive football, dominating the game. I strongly believe in that.”

Whether he is more able to show his football back in France remains to be seen, but if Lyon’s fortunes improve, it could lead to questions about the circumstances in Italy.

  1. Who cares about Fonseca? I want news about Gimenez and other transfers – why is it so quiet around Milans mercato?

    Added:
    Walker

    Lost or losing:
    Camarda
    Morata
    Jovic

    Tomori?
    ChucK?

Whats the deal with all of this?

  2. I wish him all the best.

The Lille team he coached so well we wanted him finished ahead of us in the table, and I don’t hold any ill will towards him for not immediately fixing Milan’s issues any more than I blame Morata for not being a clinical finisher. It’s the fault of our senior management.

  3. Are we just pretending Lyon aren’t literally on the verge of getting literally deleted from French football. They’re literally a failed sale away from getting thanos snapped

    1. Lmao we need to raise 100m in finances in the January window we’ve already sold 62m the rest will come from Textors sale of his Palace shares no way we are getting relegated foolish Milan fan go and solve your debt ridden club whose only claim to existence is past glory you are inconsequential in modern football
