Official: Ayroldi will officiate Milan-Torino – the precedents for both teams

By Oliver Fisher -

The AIA have designated Giovanni Ayroldi as referee for the match between AC Milan and Torino that will take place at San Siro tonight.

Ayroldi is a 31-year-old referee who is in many ways still learning his trade and in the last six games he has given out 5, 6, 8, 3, 5 and 8 yellow cards, with the most recent game he officiated being the 1-1 draw between Verona and Lazio in the last round.

To assist the referee will be Lo Cicero and Scarpa as the linesman, the fourth official will be Volpi while VAR chief will be Chiffi and his assistant will be Prontera.

There is one precedent with Ayroldi involving Milan and that was the 0-0 draw between the Rossoneri and Sassuolo last August. On the other hand, there have been two matches directed by Ayroldi with Torino on the field: the 0-1 defeat against Inter and the victory on penalties against Cremonese in the 2021 Coppa Italia.
