Balotelli reveals he advised Leao ‘to stay’ as Milan are ‘very promising’

Rafael Leao is just one step away from renewing his contract with AC Milan and it’s a huge boost for the Rossoneri, after months of tension. Mario Balotelli has now revealed that he advised the winger to stay.

Leao and Milan have reached an agreement on the renewal and only the signature is missing. Both parties are focused on the season finale and that’s why there have been a couple of delays, but there are no issues whatsoever.

Speaking to Gazzetta Dello Sport, as cited by SempreMilan.it, the former Milan striker Mario Balotelli shared his thoughts on Leao. He revealed that he spoke to the winger and advised him to stay at the club.

“UCL semi-final? The atmosphere was one of the best nights. I saw a lot of people, among others Leao. I advised him to stay at Milan. They are a very promising team, with a couple of reinforcements they can compete with anyone. In addition to Leao, Maignan stands out. And Tonali: I saw him blossom at Brescia. The whole group is competitive,” he stated.

Balotelli joined Milan back in the middle of the 2012/13 season and still managed to score 12 goals for the Rossoneri. The following season, he scored 18 goals and was subsequently sold to Liverpool. His second spell wasn’t as successful, bagging just three goals in 2015/16.
