From Spain: Barcelona plot Kessie signing to boost Haaland chances as Raiola intervenes

By Oliver Fisher -

Barcelona have accelerated their pursuit of Franck Kessie eyeing a free transfer when his Milan contract expires, with Mino Raiola and Erling Haaland behind it.

According to CatalunyaRadio (via BarcaUniversal), the signing of Kessie could be key for Barça’s chances to sign Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window, when the race to land the Norwegian will really get underway.

The source reports that although Mino Raiola does not officially represent Kessie as his agent, the ‘super-agent’ intervened in the player’s negotiations with Milan over the extension of a contract, from which we can infer that he raised the demands to Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara leading to the situation stalling.

George Atangana is officially Kessie’s representative but it would not be the first time a big agent has been drafted in to help with a complex negotiation, especially when Europe’s elite clubs are involved in a potential transfer.

  1. Interesting.
There were reports of Kessie conflict with his agent.

If Raiola intervened, its simple: we should become 2nd club, after Chelsea, to blacklist him.

Commenters here have mostly no idea how high commissions are. And agents are not there to protect players as Leao case showed.

F**k those guys, picking clubs where they can get highest cut.

    They can ruin football finances.

Good luck to barca if Kessie becomes raiola agent and both him and Haaland go there. I know they have huge revenues still, but they keep adding new debts.

One day it can be the highest bankrupcy in the world

    1. “Commenters here have mostly no idea how high commissions are. ”

If Raiola got over 20M€ for Pogba’s transfer ages ago, who would think he would settle for such amount now with Haaland? He’s gotten even greedier since he’s starting to interfere with other Milan players’ business. He’s definitely on a mission to ruin Milan. Even though they have paid half of his commissions.

      Ungrateful fat bastard.

    2. Oh it would be interesting to see how Barca will finance Raiola’s commissions for both Kessie and Haaland. And Haaland’s father wants a huge cut as well.

But luckily Barca has only 1B€ debts. And no worries about FFP. It only applies to certain Italian clubs. Mainly one. The one with the black and red shirts.

      1. It gets better

They have 1b debt now – managable with 0.7b revenue

But they just voted for a new 1b stadium

All is being financed not by capital injections like Elliot does with Milan but on loans.

If they will have a streak of bad luck, it may end bad for them

  2. Every time raiola’s name is mentioned my blood pressure goes through the roof. The biggest scum agent in any sports history.

  3. UEFA has to step up about these agents. The talk about transfer, has to be between two clubs and player. Agent should be there as some kind of lawyer, to check Agreement, and for that be paid some fee, not percentage, does not matter how big transfer is. There is FFP for clubs, but not for agents. In situation like is today, I am sure, lots of money is used for some “under the table” payment.
