Barcelona icon Carles Puyol has revealed that he would have loved to have played for AC Milan before the end of his career.

Puyol is regarded as one of the best defenders of his generation and spent his entire career with Barcelona in the end, making 593 competitive appearances for the club, winning 18 major honours, including six LaLiga titles and three Champions Leagues.

Puyol also had 100 caps for Spain, winning Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup, and he famously scored the winner for Spain in the semi-finals against Germany before they went on to win the tournament.

Speaking at Sport Festival, Puyol made a revelation: “I would have loved to have gone to Milan to play with Maldini, my idol. The Rossoneri will be back, even if now they are having a hard time. I would have been happy to end my career in Italy.”
