This season, AC Milan have been in the Scudetto fight, but they have often been their own downfall, rather than anyone else damaging them.
It has been a while since Milan last lost, yet, despite that feeling, they are not sitting at the top of the table, as many would expect. Indeed, despite losing the first game of the season, the Rossoneri have remained without a loss since then, at least in Serie A.
Many would imagine that this would bring a first-place spot, but it has not, simply because Massimiliano Allegri’s side have let results slip.
After last night’s draw against Como, the gap is now seven points, and whilst Inter are not uncatchable, they are further away than many would have hoped they would be at this stage.
Longoni picks out Milan’s faults
This morning, Andrea Longoni wrote a piece for Calciomercato.com, and the headline says it all: ‘Milan barely manage to win’. Unfortunately, it is difficult to disagree with that statement.
This season, they have drawn nine games, which is more than any other title contenders in any of the top European leagues. Whilst the unbeaten tag is nice, it is dragged down by the points dropped from draws.

Of course, exceptions can be made for games, like Rafael Leao’s fitness here. Nevertheless, as Longoni states, it never seems like the Rossoneri can put together a winning streak, as there have always been difficulties.
Champions League stability becomes the main focus for now, but it is only the Diavolo who are to blame…

You miss calculate everything because 7point with 13 matches you can’t write Milan off
It’s not about the math but the performances on the pitch. Milan doesn’t look like a team capable of challenging Inter anymore.
because Inter is guaranteed to win 15 games huh? People like Longioni is a disgrace, they just wait for a setback of Milan and complain
It’s not about Inter winning 15 games. It is about us losing points every third game.
This! Playing 20 draws per season don’t get you trophies.
Sure we can’t expect Inter to win the remaining 13 games but at the same time can we really expect Milan to not drop points in the next 13 games? Especially as Milan has Juve, Napoli, Inter, Atalanta still to play while Inter only have Atalanta, Roma and Milan who can truly cause them trouble. Tbh I don’t see this team winning all 13 while inter I can see and we have seen they are more consistent at winning the “easier” clashes. Sure they have champions league, sure they have copa Italia. Their team is stacked and have depth. Something really has to go wrong for inter to not only drop 7 points but then drop more points if Milan also drops points (which to be honest again Milan won’t pick up all 3 points in the next 13 games)
Milan would have collected 3 points had Mike not gifted them a goal. Allegri owned Fabregas last night. See how frustrated they were. It took a crossbar and an own goal for como to take one point off Milan out of two games.
Is Inter guaranteed to win the next 13 matches? No. Is Milan guaranteed to win the next 13 matches? Also no.
