Franco Baresi has offered his support to head coach Paulo Fonseca in his attempts to put his stamp on the current AC Milan team.

There is no doubting that Fonseca has already shown a willingness to make tough decisions that he believes are for the benefit of the team, such as benching Theo Hernandez and Rafael Leao for the Lazio game in round three.

Most recently, the Portuguese coach decided to not start Leao on Saturday against Udinese, and he left him on the bench for the full 90 minutes. He justified it after the game, stating that it must become normal to see start players left out, while he also shed more light in his pre-match press conference yesterday too.

Baresi was present at an inauguration event of a new sports space regenerated by Fondazione Milan alongside Fondazione Snaitech and Fondazione Costruiamo il Futuro which was held at the Oratorio della Madonna dei Poveri in Baggio.

He was asked for his thoughts on Fonseca, whose decisions have at times divided the fanbase to say the least, with his response being relayed by Calciomercato.com.

“Fonseca is our coach, he must make his personality and his beliefs heard. The team is responding, tomorrow [today] is a beautiful important match. We must get points after the first two went badly. We hope to find consistency,” he said.
