Baresi heaps praise on the Rossoneri: “Milan play beautiful and fun football”

By Oliver Fisher -

Former captain Franco Baresi has praised the current team and the ownership for their approach, insisting they have built a ‘beautiful and fun’ style.

There were more than a few people who were against the idea of hiring Stefano Pioli as the new head coach when Marco Giampaolo was sacked.

However, 493 days have passed since Pioli joined Milan and he has managed to turn doubters into believers. In October 9 2019, the announcement of the new coach was greeted by the skepticism of the fans, summarised by the viral hashtag #PioliOut.

Against Spezia tonight he is looking for his fortieth win for the Rossoneri in 68 games (18 draws and just 10 defeats), and the team have gone from fighting for a spot in the top half to fighting to keep top spot.

Baresi spoke about the current team in the Milan TV studios, and was full of praise for the work of Stefano Pioli and his staff.

“Despite being young, Milan play beautiful and fun football. The team has an idea and all the players are involved. All have demonstrated their qualities, to be emphasised without fear. It is a united and very compact group, the young people have made their mark,” he said (via MilanNews).

On tonight’s game, he added: “We find a Spezia who plays well, has a good football. The merits are of Italian, who does not distort never his way of approaching matches. Milan will have to be careful, despite having players who make the difference.”
