Bartesaghi discusses ‘giving more’, Supercoppa success and Milan path: “My dream is to stay”

This evening, Davide Bartesaghi has made a big admission about his desires and the fact that playing for AC Milan is a dream.

When supporting a club, there are fewer things better than seeing one of your own performing on the big stage. It is an ideal to see fans play for the club they love, because ultimately, they get it. Of course, you can arrive at a club and understand its culture.

However, there is something different about being born into it, breathing it as you grow up and feeling those feelings as a fan and as a player.

It also brings your bond to the fans closer, too. So, the likes of Matteo Gabbia and Davide Bartesaghi are so heavily appreciated because they have lived it as fans and are now living out their dreams, as well as the dreams of those inside San Siro.

Bartesaghi on ‘Off the Pitch’

This evening, the Italian spoke to Serginho during an episode of ‘Off the Pitch’ shown at the Milan FanFest and his words were relayed by MilanPress.

If he wants to stay at Milan forever?

“Yes, I’ve already said that my dream is to stay at Milan as long as possible; it’s a magnificent club. What makes me a Milanista? It’s a passion first and foremost. There’s the club’s history and so many other things; it speaks for itself.”

About Serginho…

“Having him in front of me has a certain effect, we’ve already shared moments and it’s always given me great pleasure.”

On the Super Cup won…

“It was unexpected. We really believed in it. It was my first trophy, one of the moments I’ll never forget. I won it with people who care about me, including my teammates and staff.”

On how this year went…

“There’s a great atmosphere in the locker room. You always have to be respectful towards those who are older, you have to always listen and learn, and communication is important because it makes it clear that you’re a partner, not just someone who listens.

“An anecdote? After my brace against Sassuolo, Leao congratulated me, and then the next day he left me a giant painting of my celebration.”

On the transition from the youth team to the first team…

“It’s an incredible feeling, it’s a great dream come true. I know I have to keep going like this, in fact, give much more than I gave this year. In any case, it was an incredible feeling, I hope many kids can experience this feeling.”

On the choice of number…

“My favorite number is 3, but it’s an important shirt, so I chose 33, which I often see in everyday life too.”

Do you see yourself in Serginho?

“Honestly, no, with all due respect. We’re two different players. I’m more static, he was more explosive.”

Quick questions section…

“The strongest player in the team? Modric. Three words to describe me? Professional, left-footed, crosser. What kind of teammate am I? Quiet but observing. Strongest opponents? Salah or Yamal when he was young.

“Best feeling? The brace. Funniest teammate? Saelemaekers. Most serious? Maignan. Strictest coach? Conceicao. Favorite? Allegri and Pioli. What do I do to unwind? I go home, enjoy the lake and my friends.

‘What would I have done if not been a footballer? I would have helped my father in construction. What would I steal from Serginho? 1-on-1. Player I get along best with? The best understanding, Rafa.”
