Bartesaghi starts and Camarda features again as young Italy side beat Greece

Davide Bartesaghi started and Francesco Camarda came off the bench again as Italy won their second game under Silvio Baldini.

While waiting to hire a new permanent head coach (which looks like being Roberto Mancini) and with a 1-0 friendly win over Luxembourg in the bag last week, Italy once again won by a one-goal margin, this time in Greece.

Baldini has been entrusting a lot of young players in his caretaker reign so far, which meant Bartesaghi got the nod at left-back in the previous game in what was his senior debut. Camarda came off the bench too, and the same happened on Sunday night.

Bartesaghi management two successful crosses out of four attempted, and 30 successful passes out of 38 attempted. He made 60 touches and played the entire match, losing possession 14 times, but winning four duels out of five, with four defensive recoveries and two blocks as well.

Francesco Pio Esposito got the only goal in the first half, while Camarda came on for the final few minutes but didnโ€™t manage to impact the game much.

  1. Italy u17 won the European cup again. So there is talent in the pipeline. The problem is developing them further into the adulthood.

And the clubs are doing “the development” by benching them. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. So we have homegrown talent with caps now…think of the added value Gerry ๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿค‘๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
