AC Milan have received a breakthrough in their pursuit of Granit Xhaka as Bayer Leverkusen are willing to let him go.
Xhaka has been repeatedly linked with a move to Milan in the past fortnight, and it is believed that personal terms were agreed in the past few days. However, finding an agreement with Leverkusen proved to be more difficult, as they do not want to part with their captain.

It was actually suggested by La Gazzetta dello Sport yesterday that quite a big effort from the Rossoneri would be needed to unblock the situation, given the gap between offer and demand that existed.
Leverkusen open the door
According to Sky, in the last few hours Leverkusen have opened up to the departure of Granit Xhaka for a figure between €8-10m, also encouraged by the player. Now everything depends on Milan and other clubs who may be interested.

Xhaka, who had previously been linked with a move to Serie A, was instrumental in Leverkusen’s title win in the 2023-24 season, in his first season back in the Bundesliga after seven years at Arsenal.
In his second spell in Germany (his first was at Borussia Mönchengladbach between 2012 and 2016), the Swiss midfielder made 99 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing nine assists.

I don’t think we could find a better midfielder for that price & salary.
If that’s true, that could be a great piece of business – I’m more optimistic about this than Modric. The third year of the contract probably won’t be ideal but that spreads the costs out I guess and hopefully he can still be a useful player at 36.
Modrich and Xhaka plus Maignan would certainly upgrade the mentality of the team next season. They will also take the pressure off Leo who will only need to focus on scoring more goals and providing assists
If this is true, now Furlani makes 5 million offer and will wait lol
That was my thought exactly. That cheap bastard will always bid way bellow.
Hadn’t we sent an offer for 10 million already, so Leverkusen should accept it and we will have a solid midfielder who can stabilize and inspire young midfielders like Ricci or the Club Brugge kid?
