Reports: Bayern Munich join Leao race but Real Madrid have a big offer ready

By Oliver Fisher -

The number of clubs interested in signing Rafael Leao continues to grow but it is Real Madrid who have a big bid ready, according to reports.

Calciomercato.it report that the Milan management are struggling a lot in their attempts to find an agreement for the extension of Leao’s current contract, expiring in 2024. In October, the meeting between the management and his entourage did not lead to the desired turning point and the negotiation has not moved forward since then.

In the meantime, the interests of the big European clubs is enough to worry the Rossoneri as PSG and Chelsea are keen, but so are Manchester City and a new suitor is even mentioned in Bayern Munich.

However, the report also cites Spanish source El Nacional in claiming that Real Madrid president Florentino Perez was convinced to offer €80m for the Portuguese winger, but first wants to evaluate the 23-year-old’s performance at the World Cup.

Should good indications arrive from Qatar, a bid of €80m will be sent but it is at least €20m away from the figure requested by Milan to even consider a mid-season farewell. A €100m minimum asking price has been set, considering the €150m clause in the forward’s contract, but the club remain hopeful of a renewal.

  1. Sell now and get as much as possible. Get mudryk for 50-80m then get a RW or ST or both. Team will be much better. Hard to lose Rafa but we absolutely cannot lose him for free.

  2. I would negotion with Real 80 mil plus Brahim Diaz plus 20 mil for number of games played by Leao of future plus number of goals bonus. That would altogether reach 120 130 mil.

  3. For a player with 1.5 years remaining on their contract and all the leverage in these negotiations, 80m sounds great. Take it. Nickel and diming in January will cost us 20-30m in value if we wait to sell in the summer. Promote Chaka Traore to play LW, and spend the money in the summer on an ST, RW, CM and a better backup for Theo. Overall it will make us much stronger.

  4. Bayern Munich is not a club that does big money transfers, plus don’t they already have Coman and Musiala for the LW, and Mane who also plays there.
I think that Chelsea is the club that can be finessed into spending more because of their form and standings , because they risk being out of champions league.
All these other teams with supposed interest in Leao are just media inventions fueled by Leao’s agents

  5. We have nothing to wait anymore. Sell him and bring in Gakpo and Lang. We would have much more options with these two. I would sell Rebić aswell, his performances are so shaky. He has 1 good match followed by 3 bad,it was like that since he arived.

    1. No please no, im dutch and Gakpo and Lang are not good enough. Lang is just another cdk and Gakpo also isnt ready, he even plays less good games in our Eredivisie against terrible teams. Give me Doku of Rennes

  6. LOL, all those sell comments and Juro nowhere to be seen and attacking them for wanting to sell the love of her life. I guess it means I’m the only one who gets her undivided attention and affection. 😀 😀 😀

    1. The owners know that if (most of) it isn’t invested in the squad, the budget gets f*ed for the following years as they need to reinforce the team and not weaken it.

      1. Without success (UCL spot etc.) the income will decrease drastically and they know it. So it’s definitely in their interest to invest into players instead of “cashing out” all the Leao money.
