Eerlier in the week, Stefano Cocirio was part of a panel and thus answered some questions about Milan’s project, obviously with a focus on the financials given his title. While it was a fairly reasonable interview with no standout statements, one thing bugged the podcast team.

“Look at Bayern Munich”, was one of his comments, talking about how success on the pitch can actually be combined with financial responsibility. It’s very true, no questions about that, but the timing isn’t exactly fantastic.
As we also highlighted in our most recent newsletter, why should Milan continue to compare themselves with the biggest of clubs? The Rossoneri are struggling to compete domestically and need to get their own house in order before realistically being able to aim for bigger things.

Bayern Munich poach the rest of their league’s domestic talents, from teams which are obliged to play young players.
Germany’s entire youth and domestic player regulations make this a non discussion, as well as a terrible comparison or model. Italy only needs billions in infrastructure from the government, implement professional youth coaching at all levels and get the biggest, most successful companies worldwide in Italy to sponsor them too.
WE HAVE NOTHING IN COMMON WITH MUNICH. The domestic investors and government have FRACTIONS OF THE MONEY TO INVEST IN INFRASTRUCTURE AND RESTRUCTURING THE ITALIAN SYSTEM THE WAY THEY DID IN GERMANY.
BESIDES THAT, Should we revamp the youth system and hypothetically do everything Germany did, INTER BECAME MORE APPEALING THAN US, SO HAS JUVE. We aren’t even the Leverkusen or Dortmund of Italy anymore, the best youth or young players won’t come to us, nor will the players approaching their prime in Italy. This is crazy talk
Munich can poach players because they offer better wages when contracts run out or are close to expiring, players growing up un Germany want to play for almost only them, they been the most dominant side ther for decades. They also snatch domestic youth players when they show promise. We don’t even develop Italians in our Youth academies
