CM: Belotti takes time to evaluate his future as Milan’s current stance emerges

By Oliver Fisher -

Andrea Belotti will define his future in the coming months and he still harbours hopes of getting a dream move to AC Milan, a report claims.

Belotti has scored two goals in his last three games – against Juventus and Cagliari – and Calciomercato.com report that he is determined to concentrate only on the pitch and on Torino from now until the end of the season, but then he will be forced to choose his next club.

The Granata still have a hope of persuading Il Gallo to renew his contract which is expiring in June, and the striker for his part has never ruled out the possibility of staying and extending his six-year spell in Turin.

The 29-year-old wants to reflect and to evaluate given that the next choice will be a decisive choice for his career. Atalanta, Napoli, Fiorentina and Roma remain in the background, seemingly more interested than Milan, who the player would obviously love to join.

  1. Idiots if we don’t sign him. So we’re not ok signing a free player with a reasonable salary who has a value between 15-25m based on how he is playing, but we’ll pay for fode ballo toure. Ok…

    1. It would make more sense to get Christensen for free instead of Botman and get a proper striker, not this free stopgap solution that will be 29 when he signs.

      1. Agreed. I would rather do the same if possible. But doesn’t seem like Maldini wants to spend 50-60M on a striker. Not sure why but seems he’s confident in a Ibra/Giroud/Belotti rotation for next season…But I agree with you – if I had to choose – I’d rather try to sign Christensen and Kamara (instead of Botman and Sanches) on free transfers and instead use that $$$ on a RW and striker.

      2. Christensen is asking for a huge pay which Maldini didn’t agree for and Botman is well into our budget. Given his rise in form Bellotti will definitely grow and play in his prime till 32. That won’t be bad for a player we got for free and even if we sign him for 5 years we can still get Capital Gains from him after 3-4 years.

  2. Belotti is born Dec 20, 1993 so he would be 28 when joining us if that is about to happen.

Anyways belotti would be a great addition to the squad and anyone saying he is a bad player or isnt good enough for us are downright clueless in my book as he clearly has proven to be consistently bagging double digits of goals for a shitty team for many consecutive seasons in a row.
Is there better players at the market ? absolutely but will we pay 60-70+ mil for one ? i highly doubt it atleast this year.

With a player like ibra bound to retire atleast next year adding belotti is a no brainer even if we get a marquee signing for that position in 2023. I do and will support the management in its choices but not aquirring belotti for free on propably favourable terms would make me question them to some extent as this free transfer is a great opportunity not only in regard of his qualities but it would also give us better options to improve the team ín other areas.

Worst case scenario in aquiring belotti would be that he turns out as a flop (highly unlikely to happen) and is sold after 1.5-2 years of time but as long his wage and sign-on demands isnt completely unreasonable then this deal is absolutely paramount in my view.

    1. You expressed it perfectly, mate. There’s no downside to this signing. I fully believe he’s gonna do well in Milan, could turn out to be the most consistent striker we’ve had in I don’t even know how many years (Ibra missed too many games in this two seasons to be called consistent). But even if he flops, as you mentioned, he can be sold, and there’ll be a number of teams more than willing to pay for his services.

      1. Thanks Daniel yeah i agree and i also have a feeling he would become an instant success and likely improving his score tally with us as he never had a team like ours supporting him in torino. His score ratio is in the vicinity of what inzaghi had with milan but a bit better but he has done it in torino so the signs is clearly there to see that he propably would be a success with us.

        – He is a leader, captain at torino.
        – Cool headed and wont cause issues internally or
        externally in media etc.
        – International experience
        – He has speed
        – great mobility
        – great work etthics
        – Great at connecting with the midfield
        – Great finding spaces and creating room through
        his runs.
        – Deadly infront of the goal.
        – Free, salary propably at 3-4 mil a year

All these traits would work great with the current formation and how we play football as it would also give us the options forward to either field 2 forwards or a single man attack as both choices would add some new dynamics to the attack with belotti in the team.

    2. Sometimes I wonder how ppl judge players ,ppl saying no to Beloti are you saying Geroud with a due respect is better than Beloti?.
We need a fighter like him in Milan front
For me if we loose out on signing him then we should continue to gamble next season

      1. Both ibra and giroud are fairly different kind of players than belotti as both are dependant on their stature of size rather than their speed so i believe they would coexist well with eachother.
Giroud will stay beyond this season as his contract lasts untill 2023 with an option for an extra year but on the other hand if keeping ibra for another season means that we wont aquirre him then i certainly would let the swede leave in a blink of an eye at this point of his career.
Hope to see them all 3 in red and black next season though.

  4. I really don’t understand this one, should be an absolute no-brainer unless he’s demanding crazy money or contract length. Ibrahimovic is surely at the end and passing this opportunity up to replace him seems so obvious – he’d fit perfectly into this team to dovetail with Giroud in the same role.

    1. and even though he is much shorter than Giroud or Ibra, he gets/scores a lot of headers so seems like a good transition in regards to getting the service from the wings , (no need to change their play?ball sevice)

  5. Perfect signing if we could get him. Would also like to see Romagnioli renew. From what i can see we are only about 500k apart…

  6. If we sign Belotti we will get:
    – Motivation (just like Tonali). We need players who love AC Milan, not just players playing for money.
    – Experience. No doubt here, considering his stats.
    – Leadership character. He is a Torino’s captain.
And if something goes wrong, we still can sell him for good money and make a profit.

  7. Sign Belotti ASAP!
We will play 3 competitions next year, it would be a good, if not great, addition with Belotti.
He can play as starter or as supersub (remember Jon Dahl Tomasson?) that can really decided a game

  8. do not look a “gift Rooster in the mouth”, no brainer, I love Ibra and Giroud, but with the older guys durability is an issue, Il Gallo loves A C, that goes a long way, and I maybe mistaken but it seems he did not miss,if any games last season. Take Rebic and put him at the 10, he has played it before, good with both feet, quick to turn and powerful/tough with his back to goal, rarely gets pushed off the ball like Diaz. I think Pioli will do this next season alternating him with Diaz or whoever depending on who matches up with the opposition the best.
