Mediaset: Benfica’s UCL progress helps Milan in pursuit of €7m midfield target

AC Milan’s pursuit of FC Midtjylland midfielder Raphael Onyedika has been helped by the Danish side getting knocked out of the Champions League, a report claims.

As has been reported by Sport Mediaset (SempreMilan.it), Milan could have a much easier time trying to sign the midfielder from the Danish side now that they have been knocked out of the Champions League in the qualification rounds by Benfica.

Given they cannot count on group stage revenue for next season, it leaves them more open to cashing in on the player whilst they know there is major interest.

The club quoted a price of €7 million for the Nigerian yesterday and now it is likely that Milan can wrap up the deal with a bid of that amount.

The 21-year-old is an attractive proposition for Milan but there are other options such as Hellas Verona midfielder Ivan Ilic who already knows Serie A well.
