Bennacer’s agent responds to Saudi Arabia links: “There will be time”

By Oliver Fisher -

The agent of Ismael Bennacer has downplayed rumours that he is set to make the move to a Saudi club some time in the near future.

It has been a strange season overall for Bennacer. The midfielder was out until November, came back, went to the African Cup of Nations and got knocked out in the group stage, while he is now finishing the Serie A season strongly having scored in each of the last two games.

However, there are doubts about whether tonight’s match against Salernitana at San Siro could actually be his last for the club. La Gazzetta dello Sport stated that a move to Saudi Arabia is a matter of time for the Algerian, even if he does not plan to go this summer.

His plans include a transfer in a second phase of his career, ideally in a couple of seasons, or in 2027, when his contract with Milan expires. However, surprises are not excluded because football is unpredictable and Saudi clubs have a lot of money to spend.

Enzo Raiola gave an interview given to Tuttosport (via PianetaMilan) in which he spoke about some of his clients, among whom is Bennacer.

“He is an immovable pivot for Milan. And the boy is happy with the Rossoneri. Arab interest? No, he’s young, there will be time for Arabia.”

  1. Fifa better step up and force all clubs and nations to follow ffp or completely scrap it all along as its unfair competition how things currently is.
If bennacer and his agent is planning him to leave on a free transfer in 2027 then we really should help him find a new club as soon as possible.

    1. FFP is enforced by UEFA for European competitions, so unless Saudi Arabia joins the Champions League, which seems to be their plan, they are exempted.

      1. I get that but thats also why fifa should set up equal rules for everyone instead allowing them to warp up things with insane overpaying.

    2. Calm down martin , 2027 still long journey. He will leave as soon as new coach playing other player as starter. But i dont mind too if he stay and become new coach pivot ( if he is able become key player )

      1. Well i am calm 😀 i dont mind him staying either but it all depends on an eventual new contract and he is one of our highest paid players whie also one of the most inury prone ones,

    3. While I did agree to sell Bennacer because he might have become injury prone (although with Osti leaving we don’t know), pushing him out doesn’t seem right. Bennacer was always hard working, disciplined, didn’t make a fuss when renewing and seems happy in Milan and willing to stay. Pushing him out sends a wrong message and will force us to replace him even if we find a defensive midfielder.
I think we should listen to big offers (north of 30M) for Bennacer, but not force him to leave this summer.

      1. It might improve but we have basically had inury issues since the late 00s to early 10s so not really sure how much i will get my hopes up for it to significantly improve. Bennacer is our second highest player if i remeber correctly and earns around 6 mil a year so why would he make a fuss. Well i think we culd sell him at his 50 mil release clause so its not like i would sell him for peanuts either.

        1. I think it was shown statistically that the injuries we’ve had since 2020 are on a whole new level compared to what’ve we had before and even compared to other teams in Italy or Europe.
And from memory I don’t recall a season before 2020/21 with so many injures, I do recall players being always injured (Pato), but rarely a whole defense missing altogether.

          1. We are not disagreeing here because the amount of injuries we had this year has been abysmal and ive been watching football since the mid 80ies or something and ive never seen anything like that before. When that is said we have been mared with injuries for at least the last 2 decades so i suspect we will keep having a lot even if less than the 23-24 season. Personally i would have milanellos soil checked as part of the solution.

  2. “He is an immovable pivot for Milan” – except for by injuries, which have been frequent. It’s time, Benny. Look for the Saudi horizons.
