Bennacer Marseille

Romano: Bennacer ‘already said yes’ to Marseille move with Milan pondering decision

Ismael Bennacer seemed an option to depart AC Milan in the summer, but nothing came to fruition, partially due to his injury. Now, Marseille have returned to the scene, and their interest is still present.

Before the summer mercato, Milan were debating the possibility of a mid-star sale. Instead of a Rafael Leao or Mike Maignan departure, the club would instead look at the sale of the Algerian midfielder to boost funds.

However, nothing ever materialised in the first mercato of the season, and when Bennacer eventually found himself on the injury table, all interest went quiet. When December rolled around, the club stated that the midfielder would be a ‘new signing’ for the Rossoneri, which suggested that he would be off the mercato. It seems this is not the case though.

Today, reports have stated that the 27-yar-old is a target for Marseille, and Fabrizio Romano reports that the midfielder, like he did in the summer, has already ‘said yes’ to the move, showing his eagerness to move to France once again.

Marseille, as the journalist states, are just awaiting a ‘not easy’ decision from Milan at present, with a loan (including a €10 million buy option) already submitted earlier today. It is now just a waiting game.

    1. 10M sounds absurd with 2 years still on contract for a player of his quality and the lack of depth in the midfield, hours prior to closing the market. I doubt this will happen, unless they pull an ace out of the sleeve and get a better replacement (which would be historical first).

On the other hand it’s true he’s made of glass, which severely deteriorates his price + if he’s really willing to move to OM there’s little reason to keep him against his will. It’s not a move to a higher-tier club so it means he’s most probably not happy here – be it playing time or other internal issues.

    2. it is hard no but not because of the fee. It’s low yes, but it is a hard no for me because we have no midfield. Fofana and Tiji already play every minute. (it’s not like Tiji can do the defensive side either). So, who do we got to play “DM” and cover Fofana, Musah? – Too young, too stupid
Terracciano? Also young, not enough talent
Zeroli or any of the academy? Same as Musah but with less experience
      RLC — i mean LOL.
Ironically Benni is currently one of the few that can DM right now. He isnt at his best, he’s made out of glass but he’s the only one we got other than Fofana. So hard no

    1. It sucks that these offers are coming in now for players we need to offload anyway but in positions that we have no cover for…

No matter how much Benny sucks, we have no cover in midfield nor did we address it in January.

    2. i guess we are really putting our money on Musah and RLC. Musah is a headless chicken but he’s 21, i still have hope. But 100% not for right now. Not to say he’s a DM but boy do we miss someone like Adli.

  1. I understand people saying NO to Bennacer sale because there is no time to sign another midfielder besides Milan being already short in the midfield, but saying NO because Bennacer is our better midfielder, or player of his quality is just being delusional. 10 m is just about right for a player who can’t stay healthy or in shape, and hasn’t been good for several years now.
Bennacer is playing like trash for several years snd can’t stay healthy.
Oh he is gradually coming back to form?!? Until the next injury.
Should have gotten rid of him in the summer and should have gotten rid of him at the beginning of January. It’s too late now.

    1. 100% Benny should be sold this summer for an upgrade. I’m just nervous what this management views as actual “upgrade”…

Weren’t they trying to sell him last year before he got hurt? Doubt they hang on to him beyond the summer.

  2. If they can get 20 mil for him and put those on a late steal for Ricci Im all for it.

If they cant get a replacement. NO WAY. Wait for the summer to properly replace him

  3. Milan can only push for more, but, if Marseille doesn’t offer anything extra, they should just take it, and let him go. He isn’t offering Conceicao much, and I’m not surprised. Sell him, offload Chukwueze.
