The decision to change to a different agent was a crucial factor in Ismael Bennacer finding an agreement with AC Milan on a contract extension, a report claims.
As has been reported by Corriere dello Sport (via Milan News), Milan and their Algerian midfielder are very close to announcing a contract extension that would keep him at the club until 2027 and see him earn €4 million per season.
earlier in the season as talks were progressing, Bennacer made the decision to change his agent and many fans feared that it was so he could secure a move away to a more wealthy club.
It has turned out that the agent change helped move negotiations along for a new contract. There is still the issue of the €50 million release clause which needs to be finalised.
A host of conditions such as it not applying to Italian clubs and not being in affect in the summer of 2023 need to be fully agreed upon but no issues ar expected.
