AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli got the best version of Ismael Bennacer again during the derby draw against Inter at San Siro last night.
MilanNews recalls the fact that Sandro Tonali’s suspension for yesterday’s cup semi-final first leg against Inter aroused some concern given that he has been a vital cog all season, but Bennacer made sure that the team did not feel the absence of the Italian.
The Algerian dominated the scene in the middle of the field and he was fundamental both in the phase of breaking up the play of Simone Inzaghi’s side – who often overwhelm teams down the middle – and in the build-up phase.
Marcelo Brozovic, Nicolò Barella and Hakan Calhanoglu have always struggled when pressed and Bennacer knew that, so he chased all his opponents for the full 90 minutes. Below are the best bits from his performance compiled, courtesy of the excellent CompsACM.
