Ismael Bennacer is currently on international duty for Algerian at the AFCONs in Cameroon, which obviously isn’t ideal for AC Milan. However, it seems the midfielder could return back to Italy earlier than expected.
Given Algeria’s group, they were expected to at least advance to the next round beforehand. But with two games played, they are stuck on just one point and the danger of not making it through is now very real.
They opened the group stage with a disappointing 0-0 draw against Sierra Lione and earlier this evening, they failed to score again as Equatorial Guinea won 1-0. As a result, Bennacer’s side are last in the group with just one game to go.
They will take on Franck Kessie and Ivory Coast on Thursday and a loss then would confirm the disaster. For Milan, on the other hand, this would be a huge bonus as Bennacer would fly back to Italy early (could perhaps be with the squad against Juve).

There is also the possibility of Kessie coming back if Algeria wins by 3 goals and anyone of Seirra leone or Equatorial win so i’m cool with either scenario as long as one of them comes back
Yeah it will most likely either be Kessie or Bennacer coming back if either team loses. I dont think based on the standings at the moment both Kessie and Bennacer could come back early. I think there might be a possibility where both Bennacer and Kessie go through the next stage. Algeria beats Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone and Equatorial Guinea tie.
