AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer has joked that Zlatan Ibrahimovic will ‘kill’ team-mates who fall below expectations.
The Swede showed everyone what he is capable of at the ripe age of 38 on Wednesday night as he scored a brace to move on to nine league goals in 2020, and he also provided an assist for Hakan Calhanoglu.
A lot has been said about Milan’s transformation in fortunes since Ibrahimovic’s arrival, as Stefano Pioli’s men have lost just twice in all competitions this calendar year and actually have the best form in the entire league post-lockdown.
The team are currently on a 12-game unbeaten run when factoring in league and Coppa Italia, and Ibra has been praised for coming in to help steady a fragile ship.
Bennacer was interviewed by Sky Italia, and spoke about Zlatan Ibrahimovic and his contribution to the growth of the team.
“He helps you a lot, with him you want to do more, you don’t want to lose a ball, you want to give your best because he is looking for perfection,” he said (via MilanNews).
“And if you don’t find him he’ll kill you, but he’s like that, he’s right. It’s right to scream when you’re wrong and not say anything when you do well, that’s how you learn and become a high level player.”
