Ismael Bennacer

Bennacer ‘very proud’ to renew: “I am part of this family and I want to give even more”

Ismael Bennacer has described himself as feeling ‘very proud’ to extend his contract with AC Milan, insisting that he feels like ‘part of the family’.

A statement on the club’s official website confirmed earlier tonight that Bennacer has extended his contract with Milan until 30 June 2027, with the previous deadline having been set for June 2024 after he penned a five-year deal upon arriving from Empoli in 2019.

There is simply no doubting the importance that the Algerian has in Stefano Pioli’s plans and in the club’s project as a whole, with the 25-year-old having established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A if not in all of Europe.

Bennacer gave an interview to Milan TV immediately after renewing his contract and an excerpt of it was released tonight ahead of the full version tomorrow, with the comments relayed by MilanNews.

“I am very proud to continue with Milan. I am part of this family and I want to give even more for the team, the fans and the club. We are very different from when I arrived three years ago, the great path we have built and are still building is part of my goals: I hope to do even better for the team and individually,” he said.

“From the first home game to today, I always feel like playing in front of our fans: they give us more and more at every match, I’m very happy because I feel there is something special between me and them.”

  1. “with the 25-year-old having established himself as one of the best midfielders in Serie A if not in all of Europe.”

Nope. Not amongst the best in Europe yet. He needs better teammates next to him to make the necessary jump to the top.

  2. He’s obviously one the best midfielders all over the world, not a shadow of a doubt about.

    In short: wonderful news.

And now is the time for Rafa!
