Beto reveals what he told Leao before the game and reacts to playing against ‘legend’ Ibrahimovic

By Oliver Fisher -

Udinese striker Beto has revealed that he told Rafael Leao he would score during last night’s game, and spoke about sharing a pitch with his idol Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

It was a game with plenty going on at the Dacia Arena last night as Roberto Pereyra was the man who opened the scoring before Zlatan Ibrahimovic drew Milan level with a retaken penalty. However, goals from Beto and Kingsley Ehizibue meant the Friulians took all three points.

Before Milan had even got the chance to kick on after their equaliser they fell behind again. A low ball into a crowded penalty area saw Beto get there first and poke the ball past Maignan to give the home side a 2-1 lead at the break.

Beto spoke to Sky after the game and reflected on an important night for the team as they managed to beat Milan quite comfortably in the end, with his words relayed by MilanNews.

Your goal was very important, coming after the penalty: “A perfect reaction from the whole team. We knew that after 1-1 we had to recover immediately. We had a top reaction. We attacked right away, I knew Success would put that ball across. I’m happy to finally win in front of our fans.”

Do you think about the national team? “I have to find more consistency. I have to keep working, if I think about it I lose focus. If I do well at Udinese I know that the opportunity will come.”

On Leao: “I spoke to him before the match. I told him I would score, at the end of the game he told me: ‘Mamma mia you really scored’. We wished each other good luck.”

On Ibra: “One of my idols. He’s a legend. I really like playing against him. It’s a great emotion, I always watched him on TV and now I have him in front of me. It’s a great emotion. But Eto’o is number one. There is no one like him.”

Do you know that Napoli wants you? “I don’t want to think about the market, I just have to focus on my season. If I have a good season, let’s see what happens.”

  1. watching Beto last night, Milan def should go for him. He’s Giroud 10 years ago.
Also if Pioli does get sacked after this season Sottil might be an ok option

  2. “I spoke to him before the match. I told him I would score”

I bet the only Milan-player who had the same confidence before the match was Ibra.
