Jimenez and Liberali

Bianchin: Fonseca shows courage as Milan Futuro duo will start against Genoa

Paulo Fonseca made it clear that he will use players from the Futuro and Primavera teams if needed, and tomorrow that should become a reality. According to a report, Alex Jimenez and Mattia Liberali are both expected to start against Genoa.

After the game against Red Star Belgrade, Fonseca was brutally honest with his assessment, stating that the players didn’t have the right attitude. Furthermore, he made it clear that he would use players from the Futuro and/or Primavera teams if needed.

According to Luca Bianchin, the Portuguese manager is set to show courage tomorrow as Alex Jimenez and Mattia Liberali should start against Genoa. For the latter, expected to play in the No.10, it would be his official debut for the first team.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Emerson Royal, Gabbia, Thiaw, Jimenez; Fofana, Reijnders; Chukwueze, Liberali, Leao; Abraham.

Jimenez, meanwhile, made his debut for the team already last season and has been a key player for the Futuro side. The choice to start Liberali likely comes as a result of Yunus Musah picking up a muscular injury, which also should keep him out against Verona.

In any case, starting the Milan Futuro would indeed show that Fonseca isn’t messing up, especially with Francesco Camarda ready on the bench as well.

  1. Uhmmm… This man is toying with dressing room mutiny! He seems to have forgotten that player power is more than coach power! Many players have gotten so many managers sacked and ruin- I bet this man is not a fan of football history- If you think you are Guardiola, Ancelloti, Arsene Wenger or Sir Alex Ferguson, you must be sadly mistaken! An inflated sense of self is the road to destruction! This season alone Ten Hag, Ivan juric will tell you better…

    1. Doesn’t matter who the coach is the players better get in line and do what they are both paid and asked to do.
You think Alex Ferguson was always safe in his job at Utd because he was almost sacked early on his career with them and besides of that there was stories of him throwing a football boot after either Beckham or Scmeichel in the 90ies.
Not saying Fonseca is a great coach but if players actually doesn’t do what they are asked to do then they simply has no alibies to act as they please and any sane replacement for a coach would clean out the squad of players who tend to mutinize, Not even acceptable behavior on amateur level as its disrespectful to the coach, club and even team mates.

      1. well said bud, there must come a point when you stop blaming the coach and look at the players..Fonseca isn’t an elite coach, we know this, but if the players actually respected and did as they were told he may have half a chance

        1. He wasn’t my choice either as there was several better options in the summer in my view but regardless of that we simply shouldn’t tolerate such behavior if it’s correct that it is what is going on. Players that do mutinize should also realize that they might actually worsen their own situation next time they will have to find themslves a new club.

          1. Yep. I’ll get behind Fonseca just as I got behind Morata…I wanted neither but they’re now Milan boys. I think Fonseca had the potential to be a good coach, not elite, but good, he just needs the balls to implement his style.

            Some great Brian Clough quotes;

“Players lose you games, not tactics. There’s so much crap talked about tactics by people who barely know how to win at dominoes”

“We talk about it for 20 minutes and then we decide I was right (when asked what happens when his players come to him to advise him on tactics)

          2. Same here and never liked Morata before joining us but he sorta has won me over with his work etthics but doing otherwise would also be counterproductive.

      2. The players weren’t a problem before.

All these fans demanding commitment from players who they show no respect for.

        What’s the point?

Players play for the club for 5 mins before fans get bored and want more changes.

The club froze out the club captain with the support of many on here.

        What do people expect?

        1. This might be correct for some but you know very well that I’m basically always behind the players, coach(es) and club so stop insinuating otherwise as you know you are wrong in that assessment at least in regard of me.
Fact is players are paid to do a job period. No excuses and no alibies for not doing what they are asked to do. Same goes for a normal job.
I don’t know if you ever played football yourself but I did and I was the captain and I can guarantee you if some of the best players that could be expected the most of was slacking off they would know I would ride them as a mare potentially putting my foot up their arse and at the same time encourage those who wasn’t as gifted.
The fact that they are professionals just increases the demands regardless whether they like or dislike the coach.

    2. This post is everything that’s wrong with football today. Doesn’t matter who the coach is, the coach has the final say from overpaid arrogant players. Good for Fonseca.

We have no answer at AM with Pulisic injured and Theo doesn’t give a f@ck so I’m 100% for it

      1. Correct, younger fans think this is the way football is and how it should be, as someone above mentioned, Beckham got a boot to the head from Alex and he was gone after that, nobody is bigger than the club you play for. Look at Kessie, his career is basically over because of having that attitude, Donnarumma dropped by PSG, Tonali bench player at Newcastle, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. Biggest example of that in recent years is Kessie, his in his prime and he’s playing against goat farmers in Saudi.

        1. You can go back as far as Shevchenko and Kaka as well mate, both careers went down after waving us…

Brian Clough was the man, he was famously brilliant at lifting players low on confidence and grounding those too arrogant. The Stuart Pearce story is brilliant!

        2. Are you out of your mind regarding Kessié??? Do you have any idea of how much he makes in Saudi Arabia?

£18,824,000 per year. Which in Eurodollars is 22,615,153.

Let that sink in. More than twenty-two and a half million Euro per year.

Do you call that, a career that is basically over???

With this salary, Kessié is set for life as a multi-millionaire. I’m sure he is laughing all the way to the bank, if he hears that some guy on the Internet is saying that he is playing against goat farmers (which he is, but most likely, he couldn’t care less).

If you doubt it, look it up at salarysport dot com.

So, let’s see. Kessié used to make 3.5 M Euro at Milan.

His next year at Barcelona he made 12,374,420 Euro.

Then he got this Saudi Arabian salary for 2024, 2025 and 2026. That’s 67,845,459 Euro. Add the 12,374,420 for his Barcelona year, and you have a grand total of 80,219,870 Euro.

Compare that to the 14 M Euro he’d have made in total in those 4 years, had he stayed at Milan earning 3.5 M Euro per year.

He is making 66 Million Euro more after he left Milan, than he would be making, had he stayed at Milan.

At the end of his contract in Saudi Arabia in June of 2026, even if he doesn’t renew (and there is no reason why he shouldn’t, as they must be happy with him because he is a very talented player and like you said, he’s still in his prime), he could comfortably retire and stop working for the rest of his life, and just enjoy his life as a young multimillionaire, living out of investments from his huge fortune.

So 80 Million is the minimum. He will probably make a total that will be much more than that by the end of his career, given that most likely he will renew his Saudi contract in 2026.

Meanwhile, you who probably would never be able to make a fraction of 80 million Euro, are mocking him.

          ————

The sad reality is that AC Milan never had the firepower to keep Kessié, given the multimillionaire contracts he was offered.

Yes, it’s a pity, because without this hugely talented defensive midfielder, Milan’s team was never the same. With Kessié who shielded the defense, we had numerous clean sheets in a row, which was instrumental for our Scudetto victory. Without Kessié, we leak goals like a Serie B team trying to compete in Serie A, and we are effectively a mid-table team.

          ————-

People will say, what a mercenary! No honor!

That’s hypocrisy. He’s a professional and he’s entitled to accepting a salary offer. He earned it through his immense talent.

I’m prepared to bet the 99.9% of the same people who bash Kessié would never turn down an offer of 80 Million Euro, if they only were good enough in their jobs to deserve such an offer.

Just tell me, if you were offered 80 Million Euro to play against a bunch of goat farmers (most likely even more after the inevitable renewal), would you say no?

If you say you would, I’m sorry, but you’re a hypocrite. So think of that before criticizing Kessié.

          1. It’s not like Kessie wouldn’t become a multi millionaire, made for life by the age of 30 never having to work again and able to financially support generations of his family to come if he had stayed at a top European club…..

      2. Money really has ruined modern football.

It’s made fans turn on the players.

All you lot do is moan about money.

You want this amount of money for that many new signings,

You moan because the club didn’t sell this player or that player.

You side with agents who hold the club to ransom.

You show no loyalty for the players and demand loyalty in return.

        You’re hypocrites.

        1. Yes, and every single person who throws fake dollars at Donnarumma and Kessié, and are now even targeting Tonali, are hypocrites because if they were any good at their own jobs to deserve salary offers of multi-million Euro, they’d accept the offer in the blink of an eye.

Players are professionals. They have families they need to support. The career of a footballer is limited in years so they need to make the best of it while they can.

If like Kessié for example who in the four years after he left Milan (counting until the end of his current Saudi Arabian contract) is making 80 Million Euro, professionals in almost any field got offered this kind of money, the overwhelming majority would say yes. Let alone, some Joe Nobodies posting in some Internet football fan site.

It’s easy to yell “mercenary” at a professional who accepts such huge salaries; it’s a lot harder to say no if the yelling person were offered the same.

          1. To be fair I’ve never bashed Tonali as he was my favorite milan player and i would personally rather take 6 mil playing for milan than playing in Saudi Arabia supporting that horrible regime. In fact Id rather stop playing football than putting my feet on their soil.
Some people might put money above everything and that is also a personal choice to make but dont say everybody thinks the same as there is things more important than cash in this world and pretty sure I would be able to live on a 1 years 6 mil salary for the rest of my life with a smile on my mouth.
Some people are just plain greedy and some people has principles and some don’t.

    3. He’s a dead man walking so may as well give it a shot what’s the worst that can happen to him, he gets sacked a bit earlier. Someone’s got to try and pull these over hyped players heads out of the ar£es and realise there’s a bigger picture than just them. You gonna do it or pander to them and let the tail wag the dog. Tactically he’s not our man but I’m siding with him on giving these pre madonnas a reality check

    4. I’m not sure what you’re complaining about. The only two healthy senior squad midfielders are Reijnders and Fofana, literally. So that’s Liberali explained. Then there is Theo, who is not behaving professionally.

  2. Correct response, would have loved Zeroli to take off some pressure as we don’t have any midfield besides the two men of steel in the center. We could’ve really used Pobega right now.

    1. Those youngsters need playing time that’s how we lost so many young players without giving them chance Liberia needs to start just watch barca I even prefer him to loftus cheek because that one alone is just big with no brain

  3. I actually think this is a good decision, we as fans also need to be patient with them cos chances are there that they might both have a bad game tomorrow. I hope they shine while giving their all, so the more senior players will learn a thing or two about competition.

  4. Theo must surely be leaving in January. Pioli was able to balance the egos because he came in when the main ego problems were younger and more impressionable. Nowadays, there is power struggle and the team must make some moves. They can’t afford to act like an EPL giant in the mercato, so they must accept more nuanced trade offs.

    1. He can play either side, do you think Maldini played left back because he was left footed? Paolo actually started as a right back, moved to the center then out left, and he is right footed but can use both equally well.

    2. Also what’s with the nickname, Tonali screwed us over way worse than what Donnarumma, and then still got caught for gambling offenses. If anything we should be throwing the fake dollars at that scum.

  5. Would rather see the following:

    Mike
    Terraciano, gabbia, thiaw, Bartesaghi
    Reijnders, Fofana
    Chuk, Liberali, leao
    Camarda

    Subs: jimenez, Abraham, Character

    1. On another note, everything else aside, that’s not the lineup of a CL qualifying side. This should be the main concern, regardless of the names. It’s scary. Should we blow up the project and say forget this season, let’s blood some Futuro/Primavera players because this is a year zero?

  6. True I agree with all of your write up concerned Forza Milan fans. The earlier Forseca acts the better for him and our beloved Milan. Yes the man ain’t a great coach as mentioned above in one of the write up. Yet Kudos to him for reading the situation between the lines and sooner than later. The way Milan is playing nowadays leaves much to be desired, there is no conviction and no passion at all. This is not the Milan I know for sure. I first felt in love with Milan in 1995 ,a game in which they lost was the first one I watched. The way they played is better than now. I believe the team needs a bit of the Italian touch somehow. It’s one key factor I see missing in our team which Inter has at the moment. We need 3-5 Italians in our team. Look at Gabbia for example he’s playing to make a name and boom he’s in the national team. Inter has players who score both for the Italy and Inter. Let the management take note of this one. I’m not Italian but I love Italian hence for me it’s Forza Milan……

    1. The starters that don’t start will have been the ones he was referring to after Red Star…

      Smells like Calabria, Theo, Musah

      1. Not Musah. He has an enormous work rate and commitment. He is not that good, that’s another issue, but he tries very hard. Fonseca apparently is upset at the players who don’t do all they can for the team, and Musah definitely is not one of those, even though it was out of his blunder that we conceded a goal against Red Star.

The reason Musah is not starting is that he collected a muscle injury in training, and will miss both the Genoa game and the Verona game.

What I heard is that Fonseca is mad at Calabria, Theo and Tomori, not Musah.
