The Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Luca Bianchin has urged the AC Milan fans to take a deep breath and be patient about Christopher Nkunku, who has failed to deliver so far.
Nkunku was Milan’s most expensive signing of the summer, coming in at €37-38m, and the expectations were rightfully very high from the get-go. However, between regaining top physical condition and adapting to Italian football, it has been tough for the Frenchman.

So far, he only has one goal for the Rossoneri and it was scored against Lecce in the Coppa Italia, although it was a very good one. In the most recent games, furthermore, he has struggled to take on the No.9 role as the fans would expect.
It’s not surprising that the player, as well as the Milan management, have received criticism from the fans and a change is needed very soon. That said, the Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Luca Bianchin has urged the fans to take a step back and relax a little.
“Tough times for balloon sellers. Nkunku blew up one after scoring against Lecce in the Coppa Italia, but he hasn’t had a chance to celebrate in the league. And the red balloon he puts in his sock every game remains there, waiting for better times.
“Milan fans, meanwhile, are doing the math and starting to worry: Nkunku hasn’t scored in over 250 minutes of league action. That’s a long time.
“A too expensive signing? Calm down, it’s early November and Nkunku is a strong player. Between 2021 and 2023, he scored 36 goals in the Bundesliga, he’s a French international, and he can play in various positions. He will certainly be useful at Milan. The question is whether he can be decisive. Whether he can be a starter,” the journalist writes.

This is one signing I still don’t understand. The only place he fits into in Allegri’s system is the ss but we have Pulisic for that role amd even Leao cuz Leao can either be the ss or a winger but never a striker. Allegri even said he doesn’t know where he’ll use the guy which says a lot. He’s a good player but I think the money we used to sign him could’ve been used for some other position.

Milan should at least give him as much time/opportunities as they gave ‘Mr can’t score’ Gimenez. He seems to have convinced Deschamps of his quality though.
When does he get to play and get minutes under his belt? Certainly not ahead of Puli. And the times he did play were not convincing. I don’t expect Allegri to go out of his way for Nkunku. The frenchman has to do better with the chances he gets. And that’s certainly not playing with his back to goal…
He’s playing now isn’t he???? Nkunku is just starting to get the minutes needed to reach match fitness. Why does he need to be “ahead” of anyone???…there are lots of games and Milan has a thin squad. Puli won’t play every match and Allegri knows when to rotate his squad or make changes to formation…Allegri certainly will give him the minutes he needs either off the bench or starting. The season is long, and if he can remain fully fit he will play enough.
