Bianchin: Milan fear ‘longer stop’ as Bennacer picks up calf injury in training

Ismael Bennacer will return to Milanello earlier than expected as he has picked up an injury while on international duty, it has been confirmed. According to the latest reports, it could be a longer period on the sidelines for the midfielder.

Injuries have made life very difficult for Bennacer in recent years and it has certainly hindered his development at Milan. And now, with a starting spot more or less undisputed, he has picked up yet another injury as was confirmed by the Algerian national team.

According to Luca Bianchin, the midfielder picked up a calf injury in training and Milan fear a ‘longer stop’, though they can only be sure once proper tests have been carried out at Milanello. In any case, this is exactly what the Rossoneri didn’t need in this tough time.

Bennacer will definitely miss the game against Venezia and this should mean that we will see Youssouf Fofana and Tijjani Reijnders in the tandem. The tests to assess the complete damage of the midfielder’s injury will be carried out in the coming days.

The timing is quite ironic given that Milan tried to offload Bennacer in the final days of the transfer window, even taking him out of training for a few days.

  1. I hope the people wanting to keep him are happy now… same story as always with Benny and it’s costly for Milan. Foolish that that they didn’t get him out the door when it was possible to get some money

    1. Mickey has been confirmed to be a happy person for now until Bennacer is back. He will probably stay happy for a good while. Congratulations Mickey!

  2. He’d be a burden for Milan in a same way Caldara was and Ballo Toure and Origi are. He makes the same salary as Origi.
But, according to his fans, Milan was being disrespectful by trying to sell him.

  3. As much as I do like Bennacer as a player, but he definetly became one of those players who will always miss most of the season.
Since it’s a bit too late to replace him now, we should probably give some time to Vos and try to offload Bennacer during the winter and maybe get a good regista ?

  4. If thats true calf injury then atleast minimum 1 month absence. Cannot sell him anymore this summer due to calf injury and must waiting summer 2025. His contract expire 2026 , most likely ACM wont renew his contract

  5. Every time he goes to play for national team he picks up injuries in training.

    Something doesnt add up here…

Anyhow he is a good player, but we should sell while we can and invest that money plus some more on someone better
